Objective: To prove the clinical effect of ‘Qing e wan',a traditional Chinese prescription, combined with Calcium Carbonate,Vitamin D3 and Alendronate Sodium on postmenopausal osteoporosis patients with ‘kidney Yang deficiency' syndrome,a type of diagnose used in traditional Chinese medicine,is more better than the cases without ‘Qing e wan'.To show the significance of diagnostics of traditional Chinese medicine. To support the availability of combining traditional Chinese and western medicine by providing the authentic cases of illness and evidence. To promote the traditional Chinese medicine on clinical treatment. Methods: Select 60 cases which correspond with the standard of postmenopausal osteoporosis(kidney Yang deficiency syndrome)patients, after informed consent form signed, and divide 60 cases into experimental group(30cases)and conditional control group(30cases)according to the method of random number table.Conditional control group would be treated with basic treatment(Calcium Carbonate,Vitamin D3 and Alendronate Sodium).experimental group would be treated with basic treatment plus‘Qing e wan'.4 weeks as a course of treatment, compare the clinical efficacy of two groups by observing 2 group's Chinese medicine syndrome and bone mineral density changes after the 6 courses. Results: The VAS score, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome and bone mineral density of the two groups were significantly ameliorated after treatment, and the difference between the experimental group and the conditional control group was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant change in safety index before and after treatment, and there was no statistical difference(P>0.05).Conclusion: ‘Qing e wan' has a significant clinical effect on postmen opausal osteoporosis patients with kidney-yang deficiency syndrome,w hich is more effective than taking calcium alone. It can significantly i mprove the bone density, release the concerned clinical syndrome, dec rease the risk of bone fracture and improve the quality of postmenopa usal osteoporosis patients' life.
