Acupuncture Treatment Of Chronic Urticaria: A Meta-analysis Of Randomized Controlled Trials

Purpose:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of chronic urticaria.Material and method:A randomized controlled trial(RCT)on acupuncture treatment of chronic urticaria in CNKI,Wanfang,Weipu,CBM,PubMed,EMBASE,and Cochrane Library for nearly a decade.Two researchers independently screened according to inclusion and exclusion criteria.The selected literature was evaluated for quality based on the bias assessment tool provided in the Cochrane Handbook.The data extraction table was designed,and the data extraction work was carried out independently by two researchers.Finally,the included literature was analyzed using Revman 5.3 software.Results:1.A total of 1095 articles were retrieved.2.After screening,a total of 16 RCTs were selected,and a total of 1131 chronic urticaria patients were included.3.Meta analysis results:(1)15 studies reported total effective rates,OR = 3.85,95% CI [2.61,5.69],P < 0.00001.(2)There were 14 studies reporting the cure rate,OR=2.44,95% CI [1.80,3.31],P<0.00001.(3)Three studies reported the scores of the number of wheals,SMD=-0.57,95%CI ?[-0.86,-0.28],P=0.0001?(4)Four studies reported scoring of the degree of pruritus,SMD =-1.10,95% CI [-1.50,-0.71],P < 0.00001.(5)Two studies reported seizure time(h),SMD =-1.35,95% CI was [-0.75,-0.95],P<0.00001.(6)Two studies reported scores for edema degree scores,SMD =-0.06,95% CI [-0.42,-0.30],P = 0.73.(7)Two studies reported scores for scratch test scores,SMD =-0.92,95% CI [-0.30,-0.53],P< 0.00001.(8)Two studies reported serum IgE(IU/ml)testing,SMD =-1.71,95% CI [-2.12,-1.29],P<0.00001.(9)There were 4 studies reporting recurrence rates,OR=0.28,95% CI [0.14,0.55],P=0.0003.Conclusion:1.Acupuncture treatment of chronic urticaria is affirmative and safe.2.A randomized controlled trial of acupuncture treatment of chronic urticaria needs further regulation.
