Objective: The purpose of this paper is to analyze the related factors of fatigue in maintenance hemodialysis patients, and to understand the fatigue among patients with different TCM syndromes,so as to provide a basis for further clinical treatment.Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional epidemiological survey was conducted on 63 patients who underwent maintenance hemodialysis in the hemodialysis room of the Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from December 2017 to December 2018.The general situation, laboratory indicators,Piper fatigue revised scale,Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale(Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale,HAD)and TCM Syndrome Differentiation Scale of Chronic Kidney Disease were investigated and the results were obtained.Fatigue scores,HAD scores and TCM syndromes were collected. The correlation between Maintenance hemodialysis(Maintenance hemodialysis,MHD)patients’ fatigue and TCM syndromes, clinical laboratory indicators and anxiety and depression was analyzed by SPSS 19.0.Results: The average fatigue score of female patients and male patients in maintenance hemodialysis was 5.02 ±1.78 and 3.80 ±1.14 respectively. There were significant differences in fatigue scores between different genders(P < 0.05).The average fatigue score of maintenance hemodialysis patients aged 3 years or less was 3.37±1.14,and that of dialysis patients aged 3 years or more was 5.24±1.41.The fatigue score of MHD patients was correlated with the concentration of hemoglobin(P<0.05).There were significant differences in fatigue scores among patients of different dialysis ages(P<0.05).Distribution of Ben deficiency syndrome in TCM syndromes: Qi-Yin deficiency syndrome>Spleen-Kidney Yang deficiency syndrome>Spleen-Kidney Qi deficiency syndrome>Liver-Kidney Yin deficiency syndrome > Yin-Yang deficiency syndrome.Distribution of standard syndrome: damp turbidity syndrome=blood stasis syndrome>damp-heat syndrome> water-gas syndrome > wind-driven syndrome. The fatigue scores of MHD patients were different in different TCM syndromes: the deficiency of both Qi and Yin and the deficiency of spleen and kidney Yang were different in the deficiency of spleen and kidney Qi,the deficiency of liver and kidney Yin and the deficiency of Yin and Yang(P < 0.05),and the deficiency of both Qi and Yin and the deficiency of spleen and kidney Yang were more fatigued. The fatigue scores of blood stasis syndrome and wind-motion syndrome were different from dampness-heat syndrome,dampness-turbidity syndrome and water-gas syndrome(P < 0.05).The patients with blood stasis syndrome and wind-motion syndrome were more tired. The fatigue score of MHD patients was correlated with anxiety and depression, with statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.Gender and dialysis age of MHD patients are related to fatigue scores.Women are more likely to feel fatigue than men, while patients with long dialysis age are more likely to feel fatigue than patients with short dialysis age.2.The serum hemoglobin concentration in MHD patients was correlated with fatigue score. With the decrease of hemoglobin concentration, patients were more likely to feel fatigue.3.The TCM syndromes of MHD patients are correlated with fatigue scores.MHD patients with deficiency of both Qi and Yin and deficiency of spleen and kidney yang are prone to fatigue, while MHD patients with blood stasis and wind syndrome are prone to fatigue.4.MHD patients are associated with anxiety and depression. The more serious the anxiety and depression, the more fatigue.
