Research On Medical Expenditure And Influencing Factors Of The Elderly

Since China's entry into an aging society,the degree of aging has sharply deepened.The increase in the incidence of chronic diseases among the elderly and the high proportion of medical expenses have aggravated the burden of government finance,medical insurance funds and the elderly.Under the background of the strategy of "Healthy China",this paper uses the CHARLS in 2015 to analyze the status of medical service utilization,medical expenditure and expenditure structure of the elderly,and explores the relationship between demographic characteristics,health status,Health Poverty Alleviation Policies and medical expenditure of the elderly.Based on the conclusions of the study,this paper puts forward some suggestions to alleviate the elderly.Suggestions on the burden of medical expenses for the elderly to meet the medical needs of the elderly population.The study found that:(1)from the basic situation of the elderly and the utilization of medical services,the elderly have poor economic independence,their sources of livelihood mainly depend on their children's support,and medical expenses are one of their main expenditures;the health status of the elderly is poor,the demand for medical and health services is high,but the utilization rate is low,and there is no medical treatment for the elderly;(2)From the perspective of medical expenditure and expenditure structure of the elderly,the participation rate of the elderly in medical insurance is higher,but the economic burden of the elderly self-paid medical expenses is heavier.The main payers of the self-paid part are the elderly and their children;(3)From the perspective of factors affecting medical expenses for the elderly,the total expenditure of medical expenses for the elderly is affected by demographic factors,economic conditions,medical insurance,health conditions and health clothing.Affecting factors such as service resources,social participation and treatment methods,demographic characteristics,health status and social participation have significant effects on the total medical expenditure and hospitalization expenses,outpatient expenses and self-treatment expenses of the elderly,self-assessment health status and social activities have significant effects on outpatient expenses,hospitalization expenses and self-treatment expenses of the elderly,and health poverty alleviation policies;It helps to reduce outpatient and hospitalization expenses for the elderly,but there are moral hazards and policy continuation after poverty alleviation.Therefore,in order to control the medical expenditure of the elderly,we should start from two aspects: reducing the personal medical expenditure of the elderly and reducing the medical expenditure of the elderly group.We should take measures to improve the medical security policy,reduce the self-supporting medical expenses of the individual,build a special medical security system for the elderly,improve the level of security,pay attention to the health management of the elderly,strengthen disease prevention and control,reduce the pressure of the self-supporting medical expenses of the elderly,improve the utilization rate and health level of the medical services of the elderly,and realize healthy aging.
