Research purposes:Post-burn residual wounds are clinically seen in the late stage of healing. It is a kind of chronic wound, which can be categorized as an"ulcer"in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).It is characterized by difficulty in healing, easily breakable, and non-healing chronic wound.Chinese medicine has a unique advantage in the treatment of ulcers.Numerous studies have shown the effectiveness of TCM in the treatment of non-healing ulcer. In this study,we observed the clinical symptoms, related physical and chemical examinations of residual wounds after burn. The distribution of TCM syndromes of residual wound after burns, and extraction of relevant syndromes are also discussed. In order to provide some evidence for the establishment of the dialectical system of Chinese medicine for residual wounds after burns,it will also help to further guide the clinical treatment. Methods:A retrospective review of 58 patients with residual burn wounds, general information, clinical manifestations, auxiliary examination indicators, and tongue, pulse and other data were collected.Statistical data of all patients like local wound conditions, frequency of syndromes and other relevant data were extracted to evaluate and interpret the evidence of residual wounds after burn, and analysis was carried out regarding the cluster of syndromes.Results:1.Among the patients with residual wound after burn, male patients were more than female patients, and the top three in the age of onset were:60 years old and above,>41-50 years old,and>51-60 years old.The occupations with higher incidence were manual workers and retirees.2.The wound distinction was made as;partially black eschar, yellow carrion, old granulation, fresh granulation, combined abscess, etc.,which was present alone or in combination. The wound microorganisms were mainly Gram-negative bacteria.3.Among the single syndrome, the frequency of qi deficiency syndrome was the highest, followed by blood deficiency syndrome,Tianjin deficiency syndrome, dampness syndrome, heat syndrome, blood stasis syndrome, and phlegm syndrome.Among the systemic syndromes, the highest frequency of occurrence was the syndrome of qi and blood deficiency, followed by the syndrome of spleen deficiency and yin,the syndrome of dampness and heat, and the syndrome of dampness and blood stasis.4.The body mass index of phlegm-dampness and blood stasis syndrome was the highest, and the difference was statistically significant compared with spleen-yin-yin-skin syndrome(P<0.05).The white-cell count of damp-heat syndrome was the highest, and it was associated with phlegm-dampness and blood stasis syndrome.Compared with syndromes of qi and blood deficiency, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).The hemoglobin of qi and blood deficiency syndrome was the lowest, compared with phlegm-dampness and blood stasis syndrome, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).The platelet count of qi deficiency and deficiency syndrome was highest, and the difference was statistically significant compared with spleen deficiency and scrotal injury(P<0.01).5.The symptoms of residual wounds after burns are skin(skin, muscle). The highest frequency of disease syndrome is qi deficiency, followed by blood deficiency,Jin deficiency, dampness, heat, poison, phlegm and blood stasis.Conclusion:1.The TCM syndromes of residual wounds after burns are qi and blood deficiency syndrome, spleen deficiency and yin injury syndrome, dampness and heat syndrome, and dampness and blood stasis syndrome.2.The symptoms of residual wounds after burns are skin(skin, muscle);the syndromes are qi deficiency, blood deficiency, weight loss, dampness, heat, toxicity, phlegm and blood stasis.
