Objective:To exploretheTCM(traditionalchinese medicine)symptomatology of functionality constipation and interrelations between different symptomatologies,we conduct this study to provide objective evidence for clinical syndrome differentiation.Methods:We collected clinical data form 153 patients with functionality constipation in Dongzhimen hospital by using research method in epidemiological approach.Database was establishen by clinical investigation information and symptom scoring system in Microsoft excel software.Then all data of distribution regularities were analyzed by SPSS 18.0.Results:The mean age of the 153 patients was 47.16± 15.03 years old,male was 44.%.The oldest was 70 years old,while the younggest was 18 years old.When talking the distribution of different ages,the middle age(36-55 years)group was 45.8%,the older group(56-70 years)was 29.4%,the youngger group(18-35)was 24.8%.Of all the patients,group of office clerks was 28.1%,group of retiree was 27.4%,group of student was 14.4%,group of civil servant was 11.1%,group of worker was 9.8%,and group of freelance was 7.2%.For the inducing factors,eating disorder was the first causes,which accounting for 36.6%.The others were low spirit(20.9%),excessive of fatigue(15.7%),outside evils(2.0%),and unkown causes(24.8%).Longger defecation interval was the most common symptom of function constipation with the percentage of 83.0%;Longger defecation time was the second common symptom with the percentage of 64.1%.The other symptoms were faintness in defecation(20.3%),faintness after defecation(30.7%),dry stool(52.4%),abdominal distention(41.8%),chill ofabdomen(24.8%),abnormal bowel sounds(48.4%),bad breath(30.7%),bearing down of anus(15.0%),sticky stool(9.8%),loss of appetite(37.3%),and better feeling with warm things or being pressed(24.2%).The symptomatology of accumulated heat in stomach and intestine was 41.8%,the symptomatology of disharmony between Liver and Spleen was 24.8%,the symptomatology of deficiency of lung-spleen qi was 14.4%,the symptomatology of insufficiency of spleen-kidney-yang was 11.8%,and the symptomatology ofdeficiency of liver-yin and kidney-yin was 7.2%.Conclusions:Functionality constipation was more common in females than in males.The older were more liable to get such a disease.The most common cuses of functionality constipation were eating disorder and low spirits.The most common clinical symptoms were Longger defecation interval,longger defecation time and dry stool.The symptomatology of accumulated heat in stomach and intestine was the most common symptom.The symptomatology of disharmony between Liver and Spleen,deficiency of lung-spleen qi,insufficiency of spleen-kidney-yang,deficiency of liver-yin and kidney-yin were the following symptomatologies.
