Among the 25 ethnic minority groups in Yunnan, the Yi people are the most typical people who worship and believe in fire. All aspects of the Yi people's social life and culture can not be separated from fire. They live around the fire pond, smoke, gatherings, activities, sacrifices and so on,forming a rich and colorful fire pond culture and the specific typicality of the fire pond. With the great development of society, many material forms such as fireponds are gradually disappearing, and the firepond space of Yi people's dwellings is facing extinction.Instead, the construction of new rural dwellings under the poverty alleviation policy and the substitution of modern energy are replaced. In order to better understand the firepond and firepond space, and for the protection and better construction and development of the current residential buildings with fireponds, this is precisely the reason. What is the significance of this paper? At present, many scholars have not made a comprehensive study of the Yi Fire Pond.In the first stage,Mr.Yang Hongfeng,Peng Weihong,Yang Fuwang and Liu Hongtao mainly focused on the Yi culture, aesthetic culture, family system and so on In the second stage,Mr.Peng Duoyi and Mr.Noohe carried out further research on the Yi Fire Pond, but mainly described the Yi Fire Pond.In mythology, the related social functions and living space have not been deeply studied.Professor Guan Yanbo,Lu Qian,Li Yujun and other scholars mainly studied the function and social activities of the fire pond through field investigation, and the research on the material form of the fire pond itself is still not deep enough. In the third stage,Mr.Yang Dayu,Mr Jiang Gaochen and Mr.Cheng Bin studied it from the field of architecture.Regarding the Yi people's dwellings, the shape of the fire pond is mentioned slightly, but there is no detailed analysis and Research on the fire pond space of the dwellings, including whether the fire pond also has some influence on the interior space form of the Yi people's dwellings. There is no comprehensive, systematic and holistic study, and few monographs and works are related. In addition, what is the development prospects of the fire pond itself? Can the design of the fire pond better adapt to today's society? With the support of the current poverty alleviation policy, many valuable Yi dwellings are gradually disappearing. Can the fire pond space of Yi dwellings be better protected and developed at this stage? These are all worth studying. However, few monographs and documents are elaborated, including the spirit of the Yi people's fire pond and the continuation of the spirit of the Yi people's dwelling houses. All these contents which are missing in the academic circles are the goals and directions of the comprehensive and systematic research of this paper. Therefore,on the basis of previous scholars'research, the author mainly takes Chuxiong,Dali,Lijiang and other places in Western Yunnan, where the Yi people are concentrated,as the main representative research object. From the important "fire"culture of the Yi people as the theoretical starting point, the author regards "the spacial form of the fire pond of the Yi people's dwellings" as the main research object.Integrating the research methods of cultural anthropology with design and architecture into this paper, broadening the scope and scope of research, making the content of research more comprehensive, more convincing and contributing to the academic community.
