In recent years, with the continuous upgrading of environmental problems, heavy polluting enterprises have become the main object of environmental regulation.China's environmental protection tax law was formally enacted at the end of 2016 and put into effect on January 1,2018.Environmental protection tax,as a new variable affecting the development of enterprises, its impact on the strategic performance of enterprises has also attracted more and more scholars' attention. Most of the existing researches focus on the empirical study of the industry, lacking in-depth analysis of micro cases.Based on Porter hypothesis and SCP analysis framework, this paper explores the specific impact path of environmental protection tax on corporate strategic performance from two perspectives of direct and indirect impact. The results show that: environmental protection tax is stricter in the aspects of tax standard and supervision, which will directly affect the strategic performance of enterprises through cost crowding. At the same time, through the market structure and enterprise behavior, environmental protection tax will affect the industry concentration and access barriers, force enterprises to upgrade their industries and implement positive environmental management behavior, ultimately affect the competitiveness and customer satisfaction of enterprises, and have an indirect impact on the strategic performance of enterprises. The conclusion reveals the path and mechanism of the impact of environmental protection tax on strategic performance, further verifies Porter's hypothesis, which is helpful for enterprises to make reasonable strategic decisions, better respond to environmental protection tax and give full play to the advantages of enterprises.
