The development of gravity concentrator is one of major direction in mineral processing all the time,the difficulty of this direction is the development of gravity concentrator for fine grain.Between the 1960s and the 1990s,it became the trend to research gravity concentration home and abroad.A large batch of gravity concentrators were devised,such as flow film concentrator,centrifugal concentrator et.al.These devices brought vigor to gravity concentration.With the continuous exploitation of mineral resources,they are poor-fine-mixed day by day.The loss of fine grain mineral is grim.The original gravity processing equipment has been difficult to meet the needs of modern mineral processing.In recent years,domestic and foreign beneficiaries have been committed to research the way of using fine grain mineral by cleanly and efficiently.Gravity concentration is an important direction of the study since its merit such as low energy consumption and less pollution.It is generally believed that introducing centrifugal force field to strengthen the gravity is very potential,but the shortcomings of centrifugal concentrator cannot be continuous operation and high energy consumption,it is difficult to achieve industrial applications.Therefore,it is great significance to develop new centrifugal concentrator that is efficient-low-consumption,continuous operation for industrialization.This study is proved that the mineral particles can be settled and discharged in one rotation of the centrifugal drum by analyzing the trajectories of mineral particles in the centrifugal concentrator and comparing the time of settled and discharged,which is theoretical basis for the possibility of mineral particles continuously discharged.Experimental study on single minerals and mixed minerals was carried out.The results of single minerals tests show that mineral particles can be discharged concentratively.The trajectory of mineral particles is relatively spiral motion and is influenced by the sorting conditions.Different mineral particles have different trajectories and the mine discharge points are also different,which is defined as pitch difference.The results of the mixed minerals tests show that there are different pitch differences in the mineral grains with different specific gravity,which can be used in mineral sorting.The practical minerals experiments show that using the pitch difference of mineral particles is practicable in minerals sorting.In this paper,the viewpoint of mineral separation by using pitch difference is put forward for the first time,which provides important basis for industrial design of new continuous operation centrifugal concentrator.
