With China continued to increase the investment in the infrastructure construction, the domestic steel industry has been rapidly developed, the demand for iron ore has increased sharply. Because the characteristics of iron ore in China is "poor, fine and miscellaneous", the vast majority of iron ore need to be fine-ground in order to acquire high-quality concentrate. However, the part of the ore that the particle size too small, so it is difficult to be recovered by using the traditional craft, and a large number of fine-grained useful minerals are discharged into the tailings, resulting in the loss of resources, and thus run counter to China's sustainable development strategy.In this paper, Yunnan Dahongshan shaker iron tailings were taken as the research object. The valuable elements of these tailings are iron. The Fe content was 27.8%, the main iron mineral were hematitered and Limonite. The primarily gangue mineral was quartz, whose content was 45.37%, and the other gangue minerals are about 19% of the total minerals. By researching the grain composition of the mineral, it was found that the tailings particle size was smaller. In the size category fraction of-0.074 +0.037 mm and-0.037+0.019 mm, the iron distribution rates were 23.48% and 25.04%, while in the level of-0.019 mm the iron distribution rate was 44.78%. By using the optical microscope and observations, there is a high liberation degree of the iron minerals,51.06% in the total sample of the iron-containing minerals in single form.According to the Shaker tailings'characteristics, the Hang and Vibrate of Cone Concentrator were used. Through conditional tests, the most suitable operating parameters for the tailings were determined:vibration frequency was 363 rev/min; rotation period of the vibrate was 220 sec/turn; pulp density 25%, daily processing capacity was 11t/d; and wash water flow rate was 0.29 t/h. After a rough selection, obtain iron concentrateits, grade was 62.35%, recovery rate was 37.99%. Scavenging the roughing tailings and access to sub-concentrate, the grade was 55.05%, job recovery was 24.04%, the tailings grade was reduced to 17.34%. The combined grade of the concentrate and sub-concentrate reached to 60.1%, recovery rate was 52.9%. Through the particle size analysis of the products, it was found that the yield and grain-level recovery of-0.074+0.037 mm and-0.037+0.019 mm were high. In particular, the total recovery of and sub-concentrate of-0.074+0.037 mm reached to 92.09%, so there is an obvious advantage for the equipment in fine-grained gravity.Thanks to the good separation efficiency on Dahongshan shaker tailings using Hang Vibrate Cone Concentrator, the exploring experiment to Dahongshan Iron total tailings and secondary concentrate were studied in this paper. In the absence of not optimizing the experimental conditions, the grade of the total tailings through one selection reached to 56.81% and the recovery was 42.47%. At the same time, there was an obvious effect on the second-concentrate by the equipment, the grade of concentrate and sub-concentrate reached to 61.69% and 50.22% respectively, the combined grade was 60.52%, the cumulative recovery rate was 73.92%.To the Hang and Vibrate of Cone Concentrator's characteristics of sorting and separation phenomena, sorting mechanism of the equipment has exploratory study. The device belongs to ramp flow of concentrator, in its sorting process, with the slurry flow pattern in the separation cone spreading, as well as on the rotating cone changed. From the turbulent flow pattern change to the laminar flow pattern. As the slurry flow in a laminar flow state, together with wash water and the role of vibration cone, making the equipment strict accordance with the mineral density to separation.
