This paper uses the micro-enterprise data in the database of industrial enterprises above designated size and the latitude and longitude geographic information of the location of the enterprise, and analyzes the spatial agglomeration of Chinese industrial enterprises in 2003,2007 and 2011 based on the DO method. Our main conclusions are:?60.00%(2003),63.83%(2007)and 67.38%(2011)of the three-digit industry exhibit agglomeration characteristics(95%confidence level),23%(2003),27.13%(2007)and 22.70%(2011)industries exhibit decentralized features at the same level of confidence. Most of the agglomeration of the three-digit industry occurred within a short distance of about 200 kilometers.? The three agglomeration mechanisms proposed by Marshall are supported in different distance ranges.Among them, the labor pool effect is particularly important. The growth of the labor market pooling effect of 1 standard deviation will bring about the corporate cohesion intensity of about 0.3 standard deviation, and its radiation range is about 620 kilometers. The input-output linkages effect is second, with a radiation range of approximately 220 km.Knowledge spillovers have significantly increased their power over time, with the scope of influence extending from within the city(48 km in 2003)to between cities(201 km in 2011).?The new entry into the factory site is deeply affected by the labor pool and output correlation, and the radiation range is relatively expanded. However, the knowledge spillover effect expired in 2003 and was not reconsidered as a new plant site selection consideration in 2007,and was significantly effective at 10%significance level in 2011.?State-owned enterprises are relatively low in concentration and are not affected by Marshall's agglomeration factors.Overall, the Marshall agglomeration mechanism in 2007 and 2011 has a greater boost than in 2003,especially the knowledge spillover effect.
