Compared with traditional methods,the application of remote sensing technology to settlement research has the advantages of rapidness and high efficiency.With the advancement of science and technology,remote sensing technology has become one of the important means of settlement research.At present,remote sensing research results are numerous and relatively mature,mainly concentrated in the plain or economically developed areas,and there are relatively few research achievements in plateau mountains or underdeveloped regions.Yunnan Province is located in the Yunnan-Guizhou plateau region.Xingyun Lake is one of the nine largest plateau lakes in Yunnan Province.The townships and rural settlements in the basin are an important part of the man-land system in the region.Taking into account the special geographical location of the plateau area,the use of remote sensing technology and the selection of remote sensing monitoring for analysis studies with different typical representative settlements in the basin will inevitably have scientific implications for deepening understanding of the human-land relationship and environmental protection of the Yunnan plateau lake area.It is not only a complement to the application of remote sensing technology but also an exploration and improvement of settlement research and geography research.After in-depth understanding of the remote sensing extraction technology of settlement information,it was decided to select the settlement centers of Jiangzhen,Jiuxi,and Anhua townships with typical dam area,semi-mountain area,and mountainous area around the Xingyun Lake as research areas.Landsat 8 OLI remote sensing image was selected as the research data source of the paper.The decision tree method,object-oriented method,supervised classification and visual interpretation comprehensive method were adopted respectively to extract the construction land information of the township settlement center,and the extraction accuracy and effect of each method were compared and evaluated.After the extraction of settlement information,it is necessary to analyze and study the characteristics of the spatial-temporal evolution of the township settlements around the Xingyun Lake,which are typical representatives of dam areas,semi-mountain areas,and mountain areas.The study focused on the three aspects of land use status,settlement land expansion change,land use type change,and used the landscape pattern index of landscape ecology to analyze the evolution characteristics of settlements in order to achieve the purpose of studying the characteristics of the expansion and evolution of typical township settlement surrounding the Xingyun Lake.Finally got the following conclusions:1.Through the use of remote sensing technology to study the settlements in the plateau area,it can achieve the purpose of research conveniently,accurately,and efficiently,reduce unnecessary waste,and can perform dynamic monitoring,provide reliable technical support for the expansion of settlement research,and provideaccurate and effective support for decision-making.2.The research used Landsat medium-resolution remote sensing image as the data source,and the experiment proved again that the object-oriented classification method is not suitable for the extraction of the information in the middle and low resolution images,and the accuracy is low;The decision tree method is more general,and the effect also fails to achieve the desired ideal effect;The supervised classification method and visual interpretation comprehensive method is very good for the settlement information extraction and the extraction accuracy is high,which provides a reliable source of data for the analysis of spatio-temporal variation of settlements.3.When analyzing the spatio-temporal changes of typical township settlements surrounding the Xingyun Lake,it has been found that with the passage of time,during the nearly 24 years between 1992 and 2016,the construction land area of the settlements of typical townships in the study area has totally increased,and the scale of the settlement has expanded significantly.In addition,the overall size is represented by: Jiangcheng Town> Jiuxi Town> Anhua Township,that is,dam area>semi-mountain area>mountainous area.The characteristics of the average annual expansion rate for settlements from 1992 to 2016 are also expressed as: dam area>semi-mountain area>mountainous area,but according to the specific analysis of natural conditions and human social activities in different periods,the characteristics of the annual average expansion rate of settlements during 1992-2000 and 2000-2009 are as follows: dam area> mountain area > semi-mountain area,semi-mountains>dam area> mountain area;during the period from 2009 to 2016,the performance is as follows: dam area> semi-mountain area> mountain area.4.From the perspective of time series,the landscape type area index,the maximum patch index,and the percentage index of landscape types for the construction lands of the typical representative townships have increased overall,indicating that the expansion of the construction land area is obvious and the dominance is enhanced;The patch density increased overall,and the increase of Anhua Township was even more obvious,indicating that the fragmentation degree of the three townships' settlements gradually increased and human activities became apparent.The values of the concentration index degree and similar adjacency ratio in the three town settlements are relatively large,the overall decrease in the landscape shape index and the overall change in the average fractal dimension index are smaller,reflecting the convergence of the interior landscapes of the three townships,the convergence pattern tends to be regular and simple,and the spread index of Jiangcheng Town and Jiuxi Town increases,indicating that the degree of internal patch connectivity increases,while Anhua Township decreases,indicating that the The spatial connectivity of plaque gradually decreases.The diversity index and the evenness index did not change much,indicating that the land use types of a typical representative township settlement center are a single structure and lack of diversity.It is basically the conversion between forest land,cultivated land and construction land.In a word,the change characteristics of the settlement lands in the three typicaltownships in the Xingyun Lake are generally manifested in the increase of area quantity and space expansion;The spatio-temporal process has been affected by the specific terrain natural conditions and the cultural and transportation environment factors in the center of each township;The application of comprehensive remote sensing and GIS technology to monitor and analyze the changes in typical urban land use in the Xingyun Lake in the middle part of Yunnan province has practical guidance and scientific significance for deepening the understanding of the human-land relationship in the mountainous region.
