In the context of national economic restructuring,the complexity of the market environment has been greatly enhanced.Enterprises in China are facing increasingly fierce competition.In order to maintain their own advantages in the market competition,more and more enterprises realize that the key to development is to improve their own innovation ability.As the core of the executive team,top management team will have far-reaching influence on the implementation of the enterprise's innovation strategy and the output of the whole enterprise,and the distribution among the power of the top management team will directly affect the development of the enterprise's innovation strategy.Therefore,this study focuses on the effect of the power distribution among the top management team on the innovation ability of the enterprise,and discusses the influence of top management team power distribution on it from the aspect of unbalanced distribution of top management team power.And,meanwhile,pat attention to the influence of the group faultline between the two sides.This study takes the A-share listed companies in 2010-2014 as the object,using the methods of empirical research and literature analysis,combining the research results of domestic and foreign scholars to analyze the relationship between the power distribution among top management team and enterprise innovation ability,and put forward hypotheses,construct the index system to measure the power distribution,group faultline and innovation ability;and by using factor analysis,descriptive statistics,correlation analysis and regression analysis by SPSS software,we intend to verify the influence of top management team power distribution on enterprise innovation ability and the intermediary role of group faultline.This study divides the top management team's power distribution into two dimensions,namely,the highest degree of leadership concentration and the unbalanced distribution of team power.The group faultline is divided into relational-oriented faultline and task-oriented faultline.The empirical results show that the highest concentration of leadership power is negatively correlated with the innovation ability of enterprises—the greater the power of the top leaders grows,the weaker the innovation ability of enterprises will be;the imbalance of the overall power distribution of the team is positive impact on enterprise innovation ability—he higher the imbalance of the overall power distribution,the stronger the innovation capability of enterprises.It is also confirmed that the task-oriented faultline plays a role in mediation.Finally,according to the results of empirical research,some suggestions are put forward for Chinese enterprises in the construction of top management team,so as to establish a reasonable power hierarchy and effective communication mechanism to promote the innovation ability of enterprises,so that enterprises can sustainably develop in a diversified competitive environment.
