The state-owned enterprises have been facing the dilemma of lacking innovation power and heavily depending on economies of scale,after the rapid developments in the first ten years of the 21st century.In the knowledge age,the stated-owned enterprises can effectively make use of their knowledge-based human resources as an important measure to get out of the dilemma.The main difference between human resources and other resources is that human beings have various needs,and only the needs of the knowledge workers can be satisfied in some content by the company,will they make relative efforts to hard work.Under such a background,this article attempts to take the knowledge workers motivation problem in the state-owned enterprises as the study theme,hoping to find out the shorts and gaps in the practices of knowledge workers motivation in the state-owned enterprises,and analyze the reasons for the problem,and then present some new ideas for the state-owned enterprises to effectively motivate their knowledge workers.This article firstly clarifies the background,meaning of the study,study status of knowledge workers motivation problems both at home and abroad,puts forwards the study methods and study thoughts.And then,this article summarizes the definitions and features of knowledge workers,the concept of motivation and the representative motivation theories in three stages?classical motivation period,behaviorism motivation period,and integrated motivation period?.Afterwards,explains the necessities to motivate and the features of the knowledge workers in the state-owned enterprises.In the core part of the article,empirically researches the motivation problems with the questionnaire survey and then analyzes the reasons for the major problems,and adopts the comprehensive motivation system to improve the knowledge workers motivation in the state-owned enterprises from four aspects,namely compensation motivation,development motivation,ability motivation and work motivation.In the last part,summarizes the study conclusions of the article,and outlooks the study directions in the future.
