Knowledge Spillover And Its Impact On Regional Economic Growth

The spatial spillover of knowledge will affect the growth of regional economy,and the imbalance of knowledge output will have a significant impact on the coordinated and sustainable development of economy.Therefore,firstly,it uses knowledge production function to make an empirical study of the knowledge spillover between regions in our country.Then it divides the spillover of knowledge into the regional spillover of knowledge and the international spillover of knowledge to examine its impact on the regional economic development in China.Specifically,in the aspect of qualitative analysis,firstly,elaborates the relevant theories and development context of spatial spillover of knowledge and regional economic growth,and gives a brief analysis of the spillover model.Secondly,analyzes the development status and characteristics of the number of patent authorization,R&D personnel and R&D expenditure etc.At the same time,makes a comparative analysis on the East,Central,Western and Northeast regions.In the aspect of empirical analysis,it conducts a spatial autocorrelation test on knowledge output(i.e.the number of patent authorization)of our country.Taking the panel data of 30 provinces(or cities)in China from 2006 to 2015 as sample,analyzes the influencing factors of spatial spillover of knowledge in China by using the method of spatial econometrics.The empirical results show that there is indeed a obvious phenomenon of spatial spillover of knowledge in the whole level,and the uneven distribution of knowledge production in our country is extremely significant.Moreover,R&D capital stock,knowledge stock,total imports,and human capital play an important positive role in spatial spillover of knowledge while R&D personnel has no significant negative effect.On the whole level of our country,the influence of domestic spatial spillover of knowledge is gradually increasing,but the impact of foreign knowledge spillover is not significant.At the regional level,domestic spatial spillover of knowledge has a very significant positive effect on the economic growth in the eastern,central and northeastern regions of our country,but its role in the western region has not yet to be seen.It shows that the spatial spillover of knowledge can indeed promote the growth of the regional economy,but the degree of influence is different in different areas.Based on the findings and the specific circumstances of our country,the article suggests that China can promote the coordinated development of regional economy by increasing the spatial spillover of knowledge,and then narrow the economic development gap between regions.
