The economic globalization has prompted the rapid growth of the number and proportion of export enterprises, but the export intensity of different enterprises is different. The export intensity will affect the overall performance of the enterprise. In addition, the relationship between the two will be affected by the export market. In order to explore the impact of export intensity on business performance and the moderating role of export market, this paper conducts empirical research on Export Enterprises above designated size in China to help exporters choose suitable export strategies and improve business performance.First of all, based on the literature review we explore theoretically the relationship between export intensity and enterprise performance through the establishment of the model of production and sales of traditional enterprises, while introducing enterprise export intensity into the model, and the mathematical model results show that the relationship between enterprise performance and export intensity is the "U" curve. In addition, based on the model,we deduce that the moderating effect of export market breadth is negative.Based on this,we can deduce the corresponding theoretical hypothesis.Secondly,by matching China industrial enterprise database and China customs database,we select 307439 observation data from 97890 export enterprises during 2001?2009,then describe and analyze the sample data and typical facts. The results show that,in recent years the average value of Chinese export business performance increased year by year;initial "U" curve relationship between export intensity and firm performance;the scope of the export market continued to rise;export country institution distance is stable, but the exporting country economic distance is greatly decreased;there are obvious differences in the operating performance, export intensity, export market and firm heterogeneity factors in different ownership and industry enterprise.Thirdly, this paper uses the fixed effect model of panel data to test the relationship between export intensity and enterprise performance. The results show that the relationship between business performance and export intensity is the "U"curve, but the "U" curve turning point varies in different industries and ownership enterprise;the moderating effect of export market breadth on the relationship between the two showed to be negative, and the moderating role of export country institution distance is negative, while the moderating role of export country economic distance is positive;the result further indicates that the moderating role of the export market is different in different ownership and different industries enterprises obviously. Finally,in order to help export enterprises improve their performance and promote the healthy development of China's export trade,we put forward the corresponding policy recommendations from the perspective of government, industry and enterprises on the basis of summarizing the conclusion,.
