Under the background of economic globalization and domestic "new normal"economy,China proposed an initiative of jointly building the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road,i.e.the Belt and Road Initiative."One Belt and One Road" Summit Forum was held in Beijing on May 14th and 15th,2017,with 29 heads of state,3 representatives of international organizations and more than 1500 distinguished guests attending the summit, which indicates that the Belt and Road Initiative has been recognized by many countries and regions in the world.Obviously, this initiative has great significance to promote cooperation between countries and regions,as well as provides support for agricultural product trade cooperation between China and countries along "One Belt and One Road".Firstly, based on the trade data from 2001 to 2016,this thesis conducts a research on general situation of agricultural product trade between China and related countries from the perspective of trade characteristics and trade structure. The results show that there is a great increase and close cooperation on agricultural product trade between China, but the trade market and trade structure is unbalanced.Secondly, using Trade Competitiveness Index,Revealed Comparative Advantage Index,Trade Association Index and Trade Complementary Index, this thesis analyzes trade competitiveness and complementarity of agricultural products between China and related countries. The results indicate that most countries along the economic belt have weak competitiveness level on agricultural products, and China has distant trade relationship with most related countries.Thirdly, the thesis establishes an extended trade gravity model to analyze the factors which influence agricultural product trade between China and countries along the economic belt. The results demonstrate that total economic size, the proportion of agricultural added value, the degree of economic openness, conjoint boundary,WTO and APEC have a positive effect on agricultural product trade, while distance and the disparity of GDP per capita have a negative effect. In addition, total population size is not significant which cannot be defined as a negative factor. Finally, the thesis draws several conclusions and puts forward relevant policy suggestions:China can promote trade cooperation of agricultural products with countries along "One Belt and One Road" by means of enhancing agricultural exchange, promoting logistics system construction, exerting positive effect of trade organizations, and strengthening cooperation between goverments.
