| Western region of China has continuously improved its level of opening up and has changed its industrial structure since Reform and Opening,especially after the implementation of the western development strategy and accession to the WTO.Facing the domestic and foreign industry competition,the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure is worthy of attention in the western region.In the current vision of “the Belt and Road” strategy,“the Belt and Road” construction combined with the development and opening of the western region,it is of great practical significance to study the effect of industrial structure change on economic openness in the western region.The scope and data of the paper is the provincial panel data from 1987 to 2014 in western region of China.First,based on the theory of industrial structure,this paper expounds the influence mechanism of economic openness on the evolution of industrial structure and the optimization of industrial structure in theory.Secondly,this paper describes the process of economic opening and the change of industrial structure in western region of China by applying statistical method.Again,the demonstration is divided into two parts,one is to test the effect of economic openness on industrial structure evolution in western region by using Chenery standard regression equation,two is to investigate the effect of economic openness on industrial structure optimization in the western region based on the theoretical model of industrial structure.Finally,according to the basic conclusions of this paper,we put forward relevant policy recommendations.We draw the following conclusions:(1)The process of economic opening in the west of China shows the characteristics of the period,the process of economic opening is obviously accelerated and the difference in the province's economic openness is growing after twenty-first century.In early 1990 s,the evolution trend of the three industrial output value structure from the " two,one,three" pattern to the " two,three,one " pattern,three industrial employment structure from the "one,two,three" pattern evolved into the "one,three,two" pattern.Changes in the industrial structure is the fastest speed of the first industry,the slowest is the second industry,the rate of change is the middle of the third industry.(2)In the evolution of industrial structure in the west of China,the opening of foreign trade has positive effect on the reduction of the proportion of primary industry in the industrial structure of the western region,the positive effect of FDI on the industrial structure evolution in the western region is limited to the second industry,the positive effect of tourism openness on the evolution of industrial structure in the west of China is limited to the third industry.(3)Since 1987,the source of industrial structure optimization in the western region is relatively simple,export trade has only a sustained effect on the rationalization of industrial structure in the west of China,tourism openness has a sustained effect on the industrial structure of the western region.After entering in twenty-first century,the economic opening to promote the industrial structure optimization in the western region gradually emerged,import trade began to promote the optimization of industrial structure in the west of China,and the opening of foreign capital has a significant effect on the upgrading of industrial structure in the west of China. |
