Design Of Broadband Antenna Based On SSPPs

Surface plasmons are highly localized surface waves that propagate over the surfaces between two materials with opposite properties.This kind of wave propagates on the surface of the conductor.By effectively reducing the effective wavelength of the surface wave,the surface plasmons exhibits special confinement.Surface plasmons have been widely used in the fields of microscopy,solar cells,optics,magneto-optical data storage and biosensors.Surface plasmons were originally used in the field of optics,and this mode can only be propagated at certain frequencies.Shen et al.introduced a comb-shaped metallic structure to support the SSP mode,which can propagate the SSPs over the ultra-thin structure,and the structure can bend freely in the frequency band including microwave and mid-infrared.Based on the above background,this paper takes the SSPPs waveguide as the basic structure,and firstly designs a balun based on the broadband characteristics of slot line SSPPs.By using the dispersion characteristics of SSPPs,when the frequency increases,the wave number increases faster,compensates for the difference caused by the physical length of delay lines,and realizes the broadband characteristics.Then the SSPPs wideband endfire antenna is designed based on the balun.According to the method of designing SSPPs wideband balun,the balun is embedded into the antenna and a wideband high-gain endfire antenna is designed based on the odd mode of SSPPs.On the one hand,because of balun's insertion,the size of the antenna becomes larger,but the balun of the RF is saved and the gain is improved.On the other hand,balun with SSPPs can be directly coupled to the odd mode of SSPPs,i.e.antisymmetric mode,reducing reflection and mismatch.In this paper,the simulation design of balun and antenna is simulated by CST software,and performance is consistent.
