Spoof surface plasmons can be confined on plasmonic metamaterials which are constructed by patterning the metal surfaces with surfaces with subwavelength periodic features.Spoof surface plasmons can be categorized into two types,namely spoof surface plasmon polaritons and spoof localized surface plasmons.Its working frequency can be extended from near infrared light and light band to microwave and terahertz band.As strongly bound single conductor circuit,spoof surface plasmons waveguide provides a new method for the design of new circuits.In this paper,the application of spoof surface plasmon in antenna field is studied,and several antennas are designed.The main contents and contributions are summarized as follows:In this paper,the principle and feed conversion of spoof surface plasmons are described,a new spoof surface plasmons transmission line is proposed,and its transmission characteristics are studied.A leaky wave antenna based on spoof surface plasmons and radiating through circular patch was designed.By periodically placing circular patch on the side of spoof surface plasmons transmission line,the energy in the transmission line is coupled to the circular patch.Then,the energy is radiated into free space through the circular patch array.Compared with other leaky wave antenna with double beam based on spoof surface plasmons,this structure can achieve single beam across quadrants with 65 ° scanning angle between 7GHz-15 GHz.The gain reaches 12 dBi and remains flat within the working bandwidth.A leaky wave antenna based on spoof surface plasmons and radiating by yagi patch was designed.In order to enhance the antenna's ability of radiation in the broadside and restrain stopband,new antenna changes the circular patch to yagi patch on the basis of leaky wave antennas in the first paragraph.Between 5.6GHz-6.4GHz,it has realized the single beam across quadrants with scanning Angle of 10 °.The gain reaches 9.5dBi.A high gain wideband endfire radition antenna based on spoof surface plasmons is designed.The antenna is based on spoof surface plasmons transmission line.The wideband radiation is realized by symmetrically loading bow-tie type oscillator.The antenna works at 6.5GHz-8.5GHz.The measured results show that the maximum gain of 10.8 dBi is achieved within the bandwidth of 2GHz.The aforesaid antennas are processed and measured in real objects,which verifies the feasibility of the theory in this paper.
