Mass media is a window for people to understand the outside world's information.It also plays a key role in the spread of the Boao Forum for Asia.This article selects the China's Economic Daily and the British's Financial Times as research objects,and uses the theory of agenda setting in communication to compare the similarities and differences between the two typical newspapers on the agenda setting of the Boao Forum for Asia.Through content analysis,it was found that both newspapers focused on political and economic news reports,and were good at guiding public opinion and strengthening audiences' awareness of the forum.At the same time,the reports of the two newspapers also show some differences.Economic Daily is richer and more diverse than Financial Times in terms of reporting genre,reporting form,reporting theme,reporting content,and reporting sources.Financial Times It has more diversified views than Economic Daily.By analyzing the differences between the two newspapers' reports on the Boao Forum for Asia and systematically analyzing the reasons for the differences,there are both macro external factors and the political and economic environment of the two newspapers in the context of the differences between the eastern and western cultures and communication environments.As well as the cultural atmosphere,there are also internal factors of the media,including media organization,news production processes,and news professionals.Although macro-environmental news reports have a greater impact,it is the internal factors of the media that play a decisive role to a certain extent.In the analysis of the two newspapers' reports on the Boao Forum for Asia,theEconomic Daily report is characterized by strong initiative,wide sources,rich content,multiple forms,diverse genres,and positive orientation;Financial Times report is short and succinct,time-efficient Strong,pay attention to characteristics such as graphics,diversified perspectives.In addition,there are deficiencies in the reports of the two newspapers.Economic Daily conference has a lot of reports,serious and rigid content,miscellaneous report content,insufficient report depth,lack of civilian perspective,and reporting voices are similar.Most negative reports,the communication environment needs to be improved,awareness is not high,and agenda setting is limited.Therefore,in order to improve the communication effect,Economic Daily can strengthen the reporting planning,enhance the depth of reporting,and enrich the perspective of the report;Financial Times needs to strengthen reporting investment,correctly guide the direction of reporting,and increase audience awareness.At the same time,the two newspapers can also use the form of sharing news releases,organizing media exchanges,etc.to learn from each other and achieve a win-win situation.
