Nowadays the development of information constructions has become more and more in-depth,which leads to the continuous scale-up of IT systems,increasing complexity of IT environment,and high dependency on IT systems from government and enterprises to maintain daily operations.In order to discover malfunctions timely and reduce unavailable time of IT systems,an effective approach is to monitor the whole IT system through an automatic operation and maintenance monitoring system.In this paper this is referred to by the abbreviation OMMS.This thesis focuses on how to design the automatic OMMS.Details are as follows.Firstly,this thesis analyzes the needs of a modern OMMS.To manage the software and hardware in the IT system,we can add a set of indicators into the monitored equipment to evaluate the health of IT system,with the normal range of these indicators set in advance.The values of these indicators are collected periodically through the designed OMMS,and once a certain value exceeds the preset normal range,the OMMS triggers an abnormal state alarm and informs staff to handle it.Based on this mechanism,the proposed OMMS can monitor the IT system automatically and intelligently.Secondly,the hierarchical structure of OMMS can be divided into ‘equipment monitoring layer',‘system alarm layer' and ‘visualization layer'.In equipment monitoring layer,OMMS communicates with the monitored equipment through a series of standard protocols(such as SNMP,WMI,JDBC,SSH)to obtain their indicator values;In system alarm layer,OMMS triggers a state alarm and informs staff to handle the abnormality;In visualization layer,OMMS shows performance data of monitored equipment through web visualization,it can help to display the status of the whole IT system holistically.After that,designed details about key sub-modules and applied key technologies of OMMS are also introduced,including realization process of some key sub-modules.Specifically,this thesis provides a feasible solution,which is based on distributed system,database cluster and big data,to target on issues observed in monitoring large-scale IT systems such as insufficient data collection and big data storage.Finally,OMMS is realized by java and the performance is tested according to the designed objectives.The test results show that OMMS has achieved the designed goaland met the daily operational monitoring requirements of the IT system.This OMMS has been successfully applied to the actual production environment.In conclusion,through the implementation of Operation and maintenance monitoring system(OMMS)IT systems can be monitored automatically and intelligently,and status of the whole system can be accessed in a real-time manner.This can help the operation and maintenance personnel to pin-point system failures accurately and to expose the overall operational bottleneck of the IT system.All of these improvements provide strong support to higher availability of IT systems.
