Intelligence Analysis Of Internet Industry Based On Patent Data And Visualization

With the advent of the information age,the Internet industry has gradually become an important force in the development of the world economy.The Internet industry is a high-tech industry,and new technologies and disruptive innovations are emerging.Analyzing the status quo of technology development in the Internet industry and revealing the frontier direction of technological innovation,it can provide intelligence support for mastering key technologies and emerging technologies in the Internet field.This study choose representative companies of the Internet industry mentioned in the Internet Trends 2018 report: Amazon,Alibaba,Google,Baidu,Facebook,Tencent,Apple,Xiaomi as research objects,using patent measurement methods to analyze their patent documents.The data reveals the current state of technology development in the Internet industry,reveals key and emerging technology directions,and acquires technical competitive intelligence.This study firstly uses the market graph provided by Innography to show the patent strength of the representative companies in the Internet industry,and systematically analyzes the number of patents,technical focus,and patent citations based on the active patent data of eight companies.This study found that the patent strength of US companies is stronger than that of Chinese companies.East Asia and North America are the key areas for the representative companies in the Internet industry and their IPC classification numbers are mainly concentrated in the technical fields of G06 and H04.In addition to itself,Microsoft,IBM,Samsung,Qualcomm,Nokia and other companies are the patent holders involved in the patent citations of representative companies in the Internet industry.Subsequently,this study analyzed the Derwent manual code of the the representative companies in the Internet industry through CiteSpace,and identified emerging technology fields such as drone,driverless,speech recognition,virtual reality,and interactive TV.Finally,this study uses frequency,centrality,burstness,and sigma provided by CiteSpace to measure the Derwent manual code of the representative companies in the Internet industry,and finds that multiple indicators can provide more abundant technical intelligence information than a single indicator.Although the Derwent manual code involved in the technology related to the new business of companies is not the most advantageous in terms of frequency,it has a good performance in the Sigma.By comparing the technology that have good performance under different measurement indicators,it is found that there are certain differences in the technical focus of Internet equipment manufacturers and Internet service companies.Among Internet service companies,Google,Alibaba,Amazon,and Facebook have a little higher technical similarities with each other.
