| Patents are getting more and more important for technology-intensive corporations,which is pretty obvious in mobile communication enterprises.These enterprises,one after another,apply for patents to protect their own technologies.By doing so,they can safeguard their benefits at the same time they restrain their rivals from developing.Nowadays,not only do mobile communication enterprises apply for lots of patents,but also systemically set patent portfolios.Patents portfolios will bring them continuous and great economic benefits and even become a part of corporate strategies for some companies.Therefore,it is necessary to study enterprise patent portfolio.First,this paper begins with introducing relevant studies about enterprise patent portfolio and concepts of patent and patent portfolio and effects of patent portfolio.From these relevant studies about enterprise patent portfolio,we can see that now there are not so many studies about taking HUAWEI and ZTE as objects to analyze their patent portfolios.It is rare that scholars study comparison of enterprise patent portfolios from the angle of state-owned enterprises and private-owned enterprises.Text mining method is infrequently adopted to analyze enterprise patent portfolio.Second,the contrastive analysis of the industry positions of ZTE and Huawei is done.It concludes the technological distribution of communication industry patents,analysis about the levels of sensitivity of ZTE and HUAWEI to communication standards and the amounts of their patents,which provides a chance to get to know about the industry positions of ZTE and HUAWEI.Third,the status quo of patent portfolios about ZTE and HUAWEI are studied from the aspects of region and technology.And based on that,the contrastive analysis of their patent portfolios is done.In general,the intensity of HUAWEI patent portfolio is higher than ZTE patent portfolio in terms of region and technology.Transmission of digital information and wireless communication networks are the key points for both HUAWEI patent portfolio and ZTE patent portfolio.In China and Europe,electric digital data processing is essential for their patent portfolios.While in the United States,transmission will become important for their patent portfolios.HUAWEI takes electric digital data processing as an important part of its patent portfolio,but ZTE do not pay much attention to it.On the regional patent portfolios of ZTE and HUAWEI,the development paths originate from China and then extend to abroad.To be more specific in technology,ZTE will focus on terminal technology and data processing technology and HUAWEI will focus on technologies related to networks and data.These ten years,technologies of ZTE tend to be more diverse and have changed greatly.2014 is a year that makes a watershed in technologies of ZTE.While technologies of HUAWEI are more centralized and specialized and have not changed a lot.On the basis of the results of the contrastive analysis,patent portfolio strategies of ZTE and HUAWEI can be learned.Finally,based on the conclusions of the thesis,suggestions will be given for setting patent portfolio. |
