With the continuous development of China's TV variety shows,various types of television programs stand out.It has already experienced four main stages on the form of evening party,interactive,puzzle and reality show,which now changes into one focusing on spreading the traditional Chinese culture.The initial state of cultural variety shows begins with three very popular shows Chinese Poetry Competition,Chinese characters dictation Competition and Chinese Idioms Competition.However,these shows are organized chiefly in the form of competition,which have certain limitations.As a new type of TV show,the reading shows like Letter Alive and The Reader have become hot after being on the air with their distinctive features compared to the other shows.As they are different from the traditional TV variety shows,and the links they involve are related to “culture”,it is safe enough to say that they play a proactive role in the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese culture.The reading shows are designed to move audience with emotion.They can express feelings to audience in order to create emotional resonance among them.During such process,people will share and accept what are given,thus helps spread the traditional Chinese culture.This paper aims to making a systematical arrangement of the development of TV variety shows,and from the perspectives of communication,philosophy,psychology,sociology,conducting a study of the transmission value,effect communication and communication strategies of the reading shows.By doing so,this paper will can provide some reference for the studies on the effect communication,and meanwhile makes contribution to their sustainable development.
