With the rapid development of wireless communication technology in recent years,the demand of multi-band system is increasing.As a high-power dissipation and large-size module in the wireless communication system,the performance of RF power amplifier has a great influence on the cost of the whole system.Therefore,dual-band power amplifier(DBPA)is more and more attractive.As DBPA can decrease the size of wireless transceiver module,reduce the power dissipation and improve the efficiency of power amplifiers,a DBPA operating at L and S band is analyzed and designed in this paper.Taking high power and high efficiency as the start point,a 1.3/2.8 GHz high efficiency dual-band GAN power amplifier was designed and realized.At first,the characteristic index and category of PA and design methods of DBPA is introduced in this paper Based on it,a DBPA is designed.An impedance matching network of the dual band amplifier at the fundamental and second harmonic frequencies is constructed to reduce the impedance variation with frequency fluctuations.The input matching network is composed of three stages of transmission line.The output matching network is composed of a three-stage transmission line and an open-ended sub.A T-type DC bias line is used.The test results show that at drain voltage of 48V and input pulse width of 0.1ms with a duty cycle of 10%,the power amplifier exhibits at 1.3GHz an output power more than 49.5 dBm,a maximum output power of 50.9dBm,a power gain over 10 dB and a maximum drain efficiency of 68.5%,and at 2.8GHz an output power more than 49.3 dBm,a maximum output power of 49.6dBm,a power gain over 11 dB and a maximum drain efficiency of 73%.At present,there are few reports related to high-power dual-band power amplifier at home and abroad.The PA has a high output power and drain efficiency,and the technology has reference value for the designs of other related PA.
