Under the background of the prevalence of image propagation,visual culture is highly developed.Both the way of propagation of the communicator and the way of reception of the audience have ushered in the change of the times.The same is true in the field of sports.In order to cater to the audience,the application of high-quality sports images has become the direction of media efforts.Especially in the field of traditional paper media,it is eager to obtain some propagation advantages under the wave of new media through the power of images.In this paper,the representative of excellent domestic sports magazine,"Football Weekly",is taken as the research object,and adopts literature,observation,case analysis,mathematical statistics,content analysis,and logic analysis.This paper discuss the image visual construction and propagation function of "Football Weekly" from the visual culture perspective,to provide some references for "Football Weekly" and other sports magazines in the use of images.Firstly,this paper defines the concept of visual culture,and discusses the conception and development process.Then it analyzes the characteristics of visual culture from the following aspects: audience popularization,form of “image-reading”,production commercialization,sensory acceptance,and content aesthetics,etc.On this basis,the paper expounds the main elements of visual composition and related theoretical issues of image propagation,it mainly analyzes the visual construction of images from the aspects of production,content,propagation and view,which also the basic theoretical framework of image analysis of "Football Weekly" in this paper.At the same time,the four functions of image transmission are analyzed: narrative function,consumer function,leisure function and reproduction function.Then,I roughly summarized the founding and development process of "Football Weekly",and refined the development characteristics of "Football Weekly",including huge background advantages,exclusive resources,high-quality content and considerable sales.The number and the area of images in the magazine were counted to provide data support for the following article.The article analyzes the visual construction of the magazine's image content from the perspective of the shooting content;analyzes the visual construction of the image production from the aspects of scene,shutter,composition,tone,etc.;analyzes the visual construction of the image propagation and view of the magazine from the aspects of the application characteristics of images in different positions,various factors affecting the layout presentation,etc.According to the article,the propagation function of the images of "Football Weekly" includes the following aspects: promoting the sports culture propagation;visualized recording of sports development;making the audience feel happy;forming the brand characteristics of the magazine itself.At the end of the paper,it points out that there are some problems in the use of images in "Football Weekly",such as staying at the entertainment level for women's sports roles,and paying too little attention to the low-level projects or events in China,some pictures are scattered,the images and texts are poorly echoed,and provide corresponding suggestions.
