Fashion magazine readers are mainly concentrated in the urban professional population aged 20 to 35,among which the youth groups account for a high percentage.As the spread of an effective carrier,fashion magazines will play a guiding role to exert a subtle influence on the young readers.As the first official permission in the national journals,The?ELLE China?has the background of copyright cooperation with western developed countries.During thirty years,it still is one of the domestic mainstream fashion magazine,having a group of loyal readers,affecting the development of domestic market,leading the fashion culture,and it's also a important channel to build youth fashion image.This paper take the image of urban youth presented by ELLE magazine as the research object.By means of sampling survey and content analysis,the paper systematically discusses the image characteristics as well as construction methods of urban youth during investigating the contents.The basic features can be summarized as: most of them live in Chinese cities,while a few live in foreign cities.They are mainly enterprise employees and entrepreneurs dressing fashionably with a lean body type.Among them,the expression space of female youth is better than that of male youth.Behavioral characteristics include career development,sexual feelings,entertainment and leisure,and life attitude.These urban youth are dedicated to the career,getting along with lover independently,enjoying travel,fitness,reading and art,pursuing consumption upgrading,living rebellious life attitude.Based on the framework theory,the paper analyzes the way that the magazine constructs the image of urban youth from the three aspects of theme,organizational and expression framework.Most of the urban youth presented by ELLE magazine are elites in various fields.They not only have the ideal image expected by the social tradition,but also embody the fashion characteristics.However,there are some distance and errors between urban youth in reality and the image of urban youth constructed in the magazine.There are problems in the shaping of the image of urban youth,such as the homogenization of subject matter and content,and the one-aspect of narrative materials,so that it's necessary to further enhance the originality of the theme content and explore the realistic material as well as the spiritual connotation of the characters in order to optimize image building of urban youth in ELLE,spreading good image of young people and bring inspiration to the youth audience in image building and aesthetic grace.
