Problems Of Application Of Blockchain To Cross-border E-commerce And Solutions

This thesis is focused on research of problems of application of the blockchain technology represented in this paper by Ethereum for solving problems existing in the field of cross-border e-commerce related to quality inspection,value transfer,and crisis of trust.Main contact points between these problems and the potential applications of blockchain are determined.Distinguishing characteristics of Ethereum are described and analysed to evaluate its predisposition to be an essential part of corresponding solutions.Real application cases of Ethereum are subjected to analysis in order to assess their problem solving capabilities.As the results of the analyis have shown,there are five major issues to be addressed when applying Ethereum to e-commerce,namely,low scalability,absence of embedded decentralized storage,lack of convenience,reliability and functional integrity.A concept of a mulimodular solution based on the multiblockchain architecture built on the Ethereum framework is introduced as a comprehensive way to advance the idea of applying the blockchain technology to solve complex problems within e-commerce,and to address the issues found in the existing Ethereum-based implementations.Finally,the future prospects of application of the proposed information system are discussed.
