As the furniture industry trends into individuality and customization,the furniture manufacturers also are gradually embracing the development in the light of business intelligence.Information technology has been quietly transforming this traditional industry.Established at the end of 2016 on a campus the size of about 200 acre,Company A is a subsidiary of a State-owned real estate group in Xiamen,with overall investments of about 40 million Chinese Yuan.Its main business is in the design,manufacturing,and installation of MDF as well as solid wood furnitures.The goal of the company is to become an interior design and management company that provides indoor furniture products that are "environmentally friendly,high quality and encompassing full life cycle".Company A's organizational structure consists of various departments including sales,purchasing,finance,operation management,R&D,general administration,manufacturing and quality assurance etc.All departments share the same interests and there are close collaborations among them.However the communications among different departments have been challenging due to the department-centered mentality.As a result of insufficient and ineffective communications,different departments are often not on the same page,oftentimes information is not passed on properly and can sometimes be misleading and confusing,causing isolations of information,contributing to the company's less than ideal operational performance.This article will attempt to tackle the problem by researching in a strategic solution in terms of Management Information System from the perspective of Management Information System design best practices as well as the theory of distribution model of business functions.To goals of this article are as follows:Firstly,to identify the strategic goals of company A,and subsequently to identify the supporting requirements in the aspect of the information system for the goals.Secondly,to review the architecture of the existing information system and analyze how well the purposes have been served,and how it compares horizontally to the leading players in the industry and thereby identify the potential gaps.Thirdly,to employ the methodologies of Information System planning to redefine the goals of the proposed Information System,its subsystems and their functions to come up with the overall strategic plan.Lastly,set out the detailed design of each subsystems based on the overall strategic plan and with consideration of the company's situation.Meanwhile,to work out the deployment plan which includes the identification of potential risks and their respective contingency plans.This article will attempt to set out a solution in terms of the Management Information for Company A that's suitable for its business and is in line with the overall strategic plan of the company,as part of the solution there will be the deployment plans and its contingency plans.This will be instrumental in successfully establishing the Management Information System for the company,which would most certainly improve the overall value of the company,by improving the effectiveness of the communication and collaborations among different departments,the operational performance of the company,as well as the customer and employee satisfaction.Meanwhile this would be a very good reference and example for other companies when it comes to the planning of their own Management Information System.
