In recent years,Sino-US relations have suffered setbacks, and the US Trump administration has launched a trade war with China. In this context, this paper will focus on the important bridge of Sino-US exchanges-overseas Chinese media, with a view to exploring the reporting characteristics and identity of such media in trade conflicts. The Qiaobao, which is selected in this paper,is a Chinese-language media in Simplified Chinese, aimed at the Chinese residents and immigrants in the U.S..Founded in 1990,it has become one of the most influential ethnic Chinese media in the United States. Its newspaper positioning is " "Understanding China in the United States" maintains close ties with both China and the United States. This paper finds that in the reports of Qiaobao, there are two kinds of word formations:"China and US" and "US and China".This sequence of word formations reflects the difference between "subject-object" positioning.Taking this as a clue, comprehensive content analysis method and discourse analysis method were found to find that the Qiaobao report reflects two types of identity. There are many differences in textual expression and other aspects.Based on the theories of immigration and identity, further analysis of these two types of identity and expression has been achieved.Identity research is an interdisciplinary field.Philosophy, sociology, linguistics, political science, psychology and other disciplines have all studied this area.At the same time, news media is an important reflection and shaping force of social identity.Identity is also an important phenomenon in the field of journalism and communication. In recent years, the wave of counter-globalization and the division and confrontation of western society have aroused people's attention to identity politics. In the field of information dissemination, information dissemination based on identity stance has prevailed. The role of identity in influencing social development through information media is becoming increasingly prominent. This psychological mechanism is about opposition, unity, rumors, and trust.Exploring identity and its expression in the field of information communication is conducive to understanding this psychological mechanism, and use it to gather consensus and seek common ground while shelving differences.Chinese Americans are Chinese from the ethnic perspective and American residents from the residential perspective. From the legal perspective, there are more complicated permutations and combinations, such as Chinese travelers in the United States,Chinese American permanent residents, and Chinese American citizens. The number of this complex group has grown in recent years, and the dual attributes of its identity are naturally important bridges for Sino-US exchanges. At present, there is some research on the identity of Chinese literature in the United States, but the research on the Chinese media from the perspective of identity is still very limited.Chinese media is an important carrier of meaning expression and negotiation for the Chinese community.Compared with literary works, the media is more frequently and deeply constrained by social mechanisms.Studying Chinese media with identity is conducive to exploring society from a more efficient perspective, and exploring the interaction between mechanism and Chinese identity. The Sino-U.S.Trade conflict began in 2018.The economic and trade disputes in the world's largest and second largest economies have become an important focus of international news in the past two years. There are many confrontations and conflicts between China and the United States in this round of trade conflict.China and the United States are two components of Chinese identity in the United States. In current affairs,China and the United States confront and conflict. In this context, exploring the identity of Chinese in the United States will help to clarify its composition, hierarchy, and even the mechanism of change.Based on the above background, this paper uses a combination of content analysis and discourse analysis to explore the identity and expression of Chinese American media. In the content analysis method, this article studies the characteristics of the Qiaobao report on Sino-US trade conflicts, and uses regression analysis to study the relationship between the key word formations "China-US","US-China" and textual expression. In terms of statistical significance, the two types of reports using the "China-US" and "US-Chinese"word formations have significant differences in textual expressions, and also mark different identities. In the discourse analysis section, this paper uses Van Dick's research method on news discourse analysis to analyze the Chinese identity of the Overseas Chinese media in order to explore the composition and hierarchy of Chinese identity in the Overseas Chinese media, and the mechanism for the formation of differentiated identities and expressions.
