Analysis And Improvement Research On The Gradation And Classification Evaluation System Of China's Museums

Museums are important institutions that provide cultural services to the public.At the moment,the number of museums in China has exceeded 5000.In order to enhance the management of the museum industry and to further promote the development of museum industry,the Chinese government has thoroughly assessed the museums so as to fulfill the purpose of "promoting and reforming through assessing".However,the current museum assessment system is restricted only among museums that are national level ?,?,and ?----those that are at the high-end in terms of resource endowments and operation levels,while low-and-middle end museums with relatively poorer resource and worse operation are not included in the assessment system.This kind of situation is not conducive to the overall supervision and guidance towards China's museum industry.To solve the problems above----that is the shortage in the scope of the assessment system,the difficulty to popularize assessment indicators and the high cost of the assessment----this paper conducts some improvement research in relevant fields.First,the government should extend the museum assessment system to a wider scope that enclothes not just the high-end but all the museums in the country.The second is to form an assessment indicator system frame with unified criteria and unified evaluation methods so that it can be applied to all kinds of museums at all levels.Third,to put forward representative assessment indicators and quantitative standards for different levels and different types of museums,which make the assessment system more operable.This research will provide methodological support for an assessment system that covers a wider scope of museums in China,the scope of which will expand from 14%to 100%.The purpose of this research is to promote the management and balance the development of all museums in the country.According to the results obtained through the assessment methods presented in this paper,this assessment system can not only provide information for government to acknowledge the status of various levels and kinds of museums in different regions but also provide identifiable information for the publie to choose remarkable museums to visit.Besides,it can also help the museums position themselves in the whole industry and provide better services for the public through continuous improvement.
