Career development has always been a topic of concern,from career development education in school to career development training in society.Schools and companies are the most important subjects in career development.School and company rankings are two significant issues when selecting career paths.Traditional school rankings rely on indicators of schools' education and research.Traditional company rankings rely on indicators of companies' finance.The traditional ways of school and company rankings may not relate to career development and are criticized for the subjective choice of indicators and weights.To solve above problems,this paper analyzes the relationship of talents,schools and companies,the three main subjects in career development.On the basis of above analysis,this paper raises a school and company ranking based on talent flow.We regard each talent flow(from school A to school B,from school B to company C,from company C to company D)as a vote.We mark schools and companies based on talent flow among schools and companies,and then get the result of school and company rankings.This approach avoid the problems of subjective choice of indicators and weights and the rankings are much more convincing.It has been found through data analysis that there are much talent flows from companies with a high ranking to companies with a low ranking.Further analysis found that talents' job class was raised after job-hopping.Hence,we analyze not only the direction of talent flow,but also the changes of job class.For example,we consider company D votes to company C when talents jump from company C with a lower job class to company D with a higher job class.In order to verify the practicability and effectiveness of the algorithm in this paper,we do ranking testing about Chinese institutions(schools and companies)and American institutions(schools and companies)on two different datasets.The experiment result shows that the algorithm of school and company rankings based on talent flow in this paper accords with the realistic world more than traditional and some unconventional rankings,and better reflects the values of schools and companies in the market.
