With the development of network technology,information-based warfare has become a key point in the military field,and occupying the real-time,reliability,and security advantages of information can increase the probability of winning the war.The design of the network layer is related to the access to network resources,and its importance is self-evident.In a tactical communication network with a high real-time message,the network layer design should allocate network resources rationally,and the end-to-end delay should be as small as possible.First of all,it is introduced that the tactical communication network uses the wireless mesh network,which is determined by the tactical network objective conditions,tactical requirements,and network characteristics.By introducing wireless self-organizing networks,the characteristics of wireless mesh networks,the standardization process,comparison with similar networks and the tactical requirement,a network model was constructed.Then,according to the specific needs of the tactical communication network,it is pointed out that there are strong commonalities in other aspects of the network layer,and individual design is performed on the routing protocol and metric.The current routing protocols and metrics commonly used in wireless mesh networks are introduced,and their definitions and characteristics are described.It is pointed out their defects and features that should be possessed,and based on this selected suitable routing protocols and metrics for optimization.Afterwards,it describes the advantages and necessity of cross-layer design.It is pointed out that the network layer design needs to consider two adjacent layers.These two layers must also be optimized according to the design of the network layer.It describes the data link layer scheduling protocols commonly used in wireless mesh networks.This protocol is jointly optimized with the network-layer routing metric.Similarly,the transmission protocol of the transport layer protocol and the network-layer routing metric are jointly optimized to implement a three-layer joint optimization.Finally,based on the simulation software OPNET and MATLAB to simulate the design of the network layer,some of the design details and the attribute configuration of the simulation environment are given.The results are analyzed to show the advantages of the design in terms of delay,and it is also pointed out that it needs for further improvement in the future.
