The reflectarray antenna combines the advantages of the phased array antenna and the parabolic antenna, featuring low profile, high gain and simple feed structure.Hence, the reflectarray antenna is widely used in various communication systems and becomes one of the research focus in the current field of antenna. In this paper, the metal rectangular waveguide element is used to replace the traditional microstrip patch element, and the reflection phase of the element reflector is simulated by the method of waveguide simulator.Related studies have been conducted on array antennas with short-circuited metal waveguide element, making use of the phase distribution of the reflective array antenna. This thesis introduces the development background and research status home and broad of the reflectarray antenna at first.By introducing the basic theories of the reflectarray antenna, basic operating principle and research methods are analysed in details, including a brief analysis of the transmission characteristics of the waveguide and the radiation characteristics of the feed horn. Finally,a simplified matrix formula and method is given on the basis of ray theory,on this basis,a one-dimensional fan beam reflectarray antenna operating at 36.5GHz and a 10.0GHz twodimensional reflectarray antenna are designed. In the study of one-dimensional fan beam reflection array antenna, two kinds of reflective array structures with beam directions of 0° and-15° are designed respectively. Its reflected beam can achieve precise pointing and reach the expectation.A simplified model of symmetric boundary conditions is used in the two-dimensional reflectarray antenna, and the array and simulation comparison of the beam pointing at 0° and 10° is performed on the 12×6 array. Then, the arrays of different cell densities of the same size were simulated and analyzed, and array antennas of 18×6 and 6×6 cells were designed respectively. Finally, the 12×6 array is processed and tested. The experimental results show that the test and simulation results are consistent, and the maximum gain reaches 21.5dB,which achieves the design purpose.
