The reflectarray antenna combines the advantages of the phased array antenna and the parabolic reflector, with a light weight, low profile, easy to conformal, high gain, etc.; since 1978, it caused a surge in the antenna field research boom. In recent years, with increasing demand for millimeter wave antenna, it is necessary to do some research on W-band reflectarray antenna.In this paper, we have done some studies on the design of W-band reflectarray antenna. Specific works are as follows:1. Designed a novel broadband element, which could still achieve multi- resonance under the single layer; the element not only meets the wider phase dynamic range, but also has low phase error sensitivity.2. Comparative analysis of two commonly used methods of analysis reflectarray antenna, WGA and MSBA. The MSBA is more general applicability to WGA in the design of reflectarray antenna.3. On the basis of the broadband element, a small-diameter reflectarray antenna is designed and simulated; it could ensure the gain drop below 1dB within the range of 10.6% relative bandwidth. Make a comparative analysis with the parabolic antenna, the results of both are very consistent; so the correctness of the design of element and reflectarray antenna, is verified.4. Code a numerical calculation program of reflectarray antenna, and solved the problem of the computer, which is hard to do simulation analysis for the large diameter reflectarrat antenna.5. Write a visual basic program for bath drawn the reflectarray element, the program can accurate drawing hundreds elements fastly.6. In order to verify the correctness and rationality of the method of design reflectarray antenna, a small-caliber(100mm×134mm) broadband W-band reflectarray antenna is designed, and the experimental testing of the reflectarray antenna is underway.
