Application Research On “Management By Objectives” In E-Business Industrial Park ERP Projects

Nowadays with the fast growth of E-Business,we begin to see many EBusiness industrial parks being built around us.Standing on the stage of information technology,management software to fit the requests of these EBusiness industrial parks is becoming necessary.ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning)is the one that brings advanced management theory,effective management methods and unlimited growing space to these companies.ERP is now covering almost everywhere in a common company through various modules.However the high purchase and maintenance cost is a big problem for a lot of companies.More importantly,besides regular ERP modules,new established EBusiness parks are more eager for modules like customer engagement and merchandising management.These requirements cannot be accomplished by a single ERP system and it's hard to afford multiple ERP systems.Thus,most EBusiness park owners have to make the choice of developing a unique ERP system that can meet both regular and special requirements in this industry.Facing the big project of ERP developing in a new built industry,the first problem comes to our management is how to control the overall progress.Traditional project management method doesn't work out with ERP in E-Business parks as we will face problems such as long life cycles,high cost and inflexibility.Management by Objectives(MBO)happens to be the one that can solve the problems above.MBO was firstly raised by famous management professor Peter Drucker.It's a new management methodology though which upper level management discuss with employees to set up targets and review progress together regularly rather than delivering commands to employees directly before.It's a result oriented methodology that reviews individual performance through real output.Managers are able to capture individual performance and to change strategy against accidents to avoid impact on project progress.Compared with traditional management methodology,it's more effective in utilizing resources,inspiring employees and overall control.Though applying MBO in E-Business industrial park ERP projects,managers could control the overall progress,solve new problems,modify objects according to customer request changes and stimulate employees to achieve higher performance.As a result,MBO helps on better human resource management,meanwhile the overall development life was shortened and it helps to save huge cost for those park investors.We can foresee in the future,MBO would come to be the choice for more and more similar projects with the rapid growth of E-Business in the world.
