Time And Attribution-A Study On The Report Of Juvenile Delinquency In People's Daily (1949-2018)

Juvenile delinquency has become a global phenomenon,causing far-reaching social impact.In view of the seriousness and harmfulness of juvenile delinquency,mass media,as the watchtower of society,should shoulder the responsibility of social early warning.Therefore,the media presentation of juvenile delinquency and its evolutionary characteristics are worthy of study.Based on this,this paper takes the report of juvenile delinquency in People's Daily(1949-2018)as the research object,combines content analysis with discourse analysis,and uses frame theory and attribution theory as tools to analyze the framework of juvenile delinquency report and attribution of reporting discourse in different ages.The study finds that People's Daily has adopted different attribution frameworks in different historical stages to construct juvenile delinquency reports.The reports in 1950s showed the crimes under the leadership of class struggle;the reports in 1960s and 1970s showed the crimes under the cover of "ten years of turmoil";the reports in 1980s and 1990s showed the crimes under the background of lack of education;and the reports in the new century showed the crimes under the nibble of "electronic drugs".Due to the different attribution dimensions,the reports on juvenile delinquency in People's Daily can be divided into two categories:internal attridution and external attribution.Elxternal attribution includes political factors,family background factors and media development factors,while internal attribution is mainly individual factors.Attribution features highlight the "epochal" and "political" nature,and the guiding function of public opinion is obvious.At the same time,there are preblems such as monotonous discourse,rigid reporting and over-disclosure of criminal details.In view of the above problems,three optimization countermeasures are put forward:first,to ensure the diversity of sources;second,to increase the humanistic concern of reporting;third,to report the details of crime appropriately.
