Research On Juvenile Delinquency Reports In Mainstream Media ——Take People's Daily (1978-2020) As An Example

The problem of juvenile delinquency has always been concerned and valued by the society,which is related to whether the youth group can grow healthily and whether the society can be sustained,harmonious and stable.The mass media has the function and responsibility of monitoring the environment and watching the society.The reports of juvenile delinquency in the mainstream media will affect the public's perception to a certain extent.In recent years,the frequent occurrence of various juvenile crimes,such as the "murder of girls in Dalian" has attracted the attention of the media and society.Based on this,this study deeply studies the media performance and evolution process of juvenile group crime cases.Based on the graphic database of the people's daily as the sample,this study selects the juvenile delinquency reports from 1978 to 2020 as the case study object,guided by the high,medium and low-level framework analysis theory of Zang Guoren,a Taiwanese scholar,and with the help of divominer platform,constructs analysis categories such as report quantity,report theme and news source,and carries out coding,data statistics and content analysis of report samples,This paper analyzes the evolution of the media framework of mainstream media in the process of juvenile delinquency reporting from the reform and opening up to 2020,and discusses the image shaping and attribution of mainstream media juvenile delinquency reporting to this group.The study found that from 1978 to 2020,the people's Daily reported juvenile delinquency in different periods,showing different media frameworks.In the leading stage of paper media(1978-1992),the reporting framework of juvenile delinquency in this period mainly showed the framework of education and the framework of the rule of law.During this period,there was a lack of social law popularization education;Family education fails to guide correctly;Juvenile delinquents are constructed by mainstream media as individuals who lack legal awareness and normative ability;The state actively combats juvenile delinquency.In the media transformation stage(1993-2012),the reporting framework of juvenile delinquency in this period mainly focuses on the prevention and publicity framework and the protection framework of juvenile rights and interests.This period was significantly affected by social and environmental factors;Juvenile delinquents have strong plasticity;Juvenile delinquency is easily affected by network factors,the trend of juvenile delinquency is obvious,and the behavior of teenagers is extreme and withdrawn.In the stage of media integration(2013-2020),the reporting framework of juvenile delinquency is dominated by countermeasure framework and attribution framework.The formation of the reporting framework in this period can be attributed to the joint efforts of all sectors of society;The public opinion guiding function of mainstream media;Improper family education;Teenagers indulge in online games,mobile games,live broadcasting,etc;Loss of legal supervision.Finally,this study attempts to put forward some problems in the mainstream media reports of juvenile delinquency,such as the youth group has no right to speak and has the tendency of other construction;The image of teenagers is presented in a pattern;The details in the crime report are excessively disclosed,and the news pictures are inappropriate.On the basis of this study,this paper puts forward corresponding suggestions to increase the discourse power of teenagers by balancing the proportion of positive and negative reports;Undertake social responsibility and highlight humanistic care;Strengthen professional ethics and improve media literacy to improve problems.
