With the development of science and technology, vehicle has been integrated into people's changing daily life.Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks(VANETs)is gradually attracting people's attention and has formed a complete research area.It is a special kind of mobile ad-hoc networks, and it has become one of the core technologies of intelligent transportation system in the future.Vehicles in VANETs can communicate with surrounding vehicles and roadside units through wireless transmission channels to share messages. In this way, drivers can get real-time road traffic conditions,so they can effectively avoid congestion and prevent emergencies.Traffic administrators can also collect and analyze a large amount of traffic information to formulate more effective traffic station command strategy to effectively command traffic. In addition, the VANETs can also provide drivers with access to the Internet services, provide some entertainment services, and better enhance the driving experience.VANETs brings convenience to our traffic, but there are also some hidden problems. If these problems cannot be well addressed,it will be difficult to deploy VANETs into practice. As a kind of wireless network,VANETs are also facing various malicious attacks. The stability of the network will be greatly compromised if these attacks cannot be dealt with.Because of the fast speed of vehicles during driving, any small mistake may cause serious traffic accidents. So,there must be a message authentication protocol to ensure data transmission security in VANETs.Vehicle's privacy protection is also a problem that cannot be ignored, including the identity privacy of the driver and the location privacy of the vehicle.Once the privacy of drivers is disclosed,it is likely to affect their daily lives. So only by solving these security risks can VANETs be deployed and implemented, and drivers will be more willing to join in.Aiming at the above problems in VANETs,this paper studies the problems of message authentication and privacy protection. The main research are as follows.1.Firstly,this paper introduces the research background and significance of VANETs,and investigates the research status at home and abroad. Then,we summarize the advantages and disadvantages of existing schemes. In addition, system model and attack model of VANETs are summarized, and the theoretical background of the scheme in this paper is briefly introduced.2.This thesis proposed a privacy-preserving authentication scheme with full aggregation in VNAETs.By using the technology of certificateless aggregate signature, the computation cost and communication cost can be greatly decreased. The result of security proof and analysis shows that the proposed scheme can satisfy the security requirement in VANETs.Compared with other aggregate signature-based schemes, the proposed scheme can achieve full aggregation, the length of aggregate signature is independent of the number of signatures. And the proposed scheme has better performance in terms of communication overhead and computing overhead. Therefore, this scheme can be better applied to the application of vehicular ad hoc networks.3.In order to protect the location privacy of vehicles,we propose a location privacy protection scheme based on group signature. When vehicles communicate with others during their driving, they need to change their pseudonyms frequently. However, changing their pseudonyms in inappropriate places may leak their location privacy.Malicious attackers will track the location of the vehicle,so the location privacy of the vehicle will be disclosed.By using group signature technology, vehicles in the same group can exchange their pseudonyms through a series of interactions, and the whole interaction process uses the same group identity, which makes the attacker unable to track the target vehicle according to the previous pseudonyms. We make an experiment to compare with other location privacy schemes. The result shows that the proposed scheme can achieve a higher level protection of location privacy.
