With the rapid development of wireless communication technologies, especially personal communication systems, wireless local area networks, and satellite systems. The use of low-frequency band resources is becoming scarce and crowded increasingly. Therefore,it is urgent to expand the high-frequency microwave and millimeter-wave band resources to improve the capacity of the communication systems. As the important components of communication systems, filters and antennas are facing the significant challenges. It is important to research filters and antennas with the advantages of small size, low profile, high efficiency, and easy to integration for the microwave and millimeter-wave applications.Substrate Integrated Waveguide(SIW)and Half-Mode Substrate Integrated Waveguide(HMSIW)technology show the advantages of low loss, low cost, easy manufacturing, and easy integration with planar circuits, and they are promising candidate for the design and manufacture of high frequency devices.Based on SIW and HMSW technology, this paper proposes and designs a compact SIW fourth-order controllable electric and magnetic mixed coupling elliptic function filter utilizing the PCB process for X-band application; An HMSIW self-diplexing antenna element and a self-diplexing antenna array have been designed at 10 GHz;A high gain 1 x 4 substrate integrated dielectric resonators antenna array and 4 x 4 antenna array have been proposed at Ka-band.The main contents are as follows:(1)A brief introduction is given in the chapter one.Firstly, the background and significance of the SIW antennas and filters have been introduced. Then the recent research status of microwave and millimeter-wave devices have been reviewed. At last, the arrangement of this dissertation is explained.(2)The second chapter introduces the study of SIW electric and magnetic mixed coupling bandpass filter,in which the magnetic coupling is achieved by opening an iris-window between two SIW resonant cavities, and the electric coupling is obtained by etching three equal-width slots on the SIW top surface. Two transmission zeros are generated at the upper and lower sides of the stop band.A elliptic function response filter is realized with highly selective by adjusting the electrical and magnetic coupling coefficients.(3)An HMSIW back-cavity self-diplexing antenna element and array have been designed in the chapter three. Two slots with different sizes are etched on the top metal of the SIW resonator to radiate electromagnetic waves at two different frequencies with high isolation between the two wave ports,in which the operating frequencies of antenna element are f _L=8.6 GHz and f_H=10.6 GHz,respectively;and the operating frequencies of antenna array are f _L=8.3 GHz and f_H=10.5 GHz,respectively. This self-diplexing antenna avoids the use of isolation devices such as diplexers and reduces the size and cost of radio frequency frond-end.(4)In chapter four,a high gain SIW dielectric resonator antenna array(SIDRAA)has been designed utilizing a two-layer PCB process for Ka-band applications. The feeding structure of the antenna is realized with the slot radiating elements excited with the SIW technology in the bottom layer, and the integrated dielectric resonator antenna elements are implemented in the upper layer.High efficiency and small manufacturing error are obtained conveniently by using the integrated DRA element with the air holes boundary conditions.
