Antenna is one of the key components for the microwave and millimeter-wave wireless systems such as communications,radar,cosmic astronomy and satellite navigation.It is of practical importance to design low-profile substrate integrated antennas for the applications.Based on half mode substrate integrated waveguide and substrate integrated waveguide technologies,this dissertation has investigated and designed the microwave HMSIW self-duplex back cavity antenna,and millimeter-wave substrate integrated dielectric resonator antenna array.The proposed antenna and array can be implemented with PCB or LTCC process,and they show the advantages of miniaturization,light weight,low profile,low cost,and they are easy to integrate with other planar circuits.The dissertation is organized as follows:The first chapter mainly introduces the development background and significance of substrate integrated waveguide technology,dielectric resonator antenna and self-duplex back-cavity antenna,as well as the current domestic and international research status,and gives an overview of the main work of the paper.The second chapter mainly introduces the related theoretical knowledge of the antenna,including the basic concept,the classification and several important performance of the antenna.In the third chapter,a new type of half-mold substrate integrated waveguide(HMSIW)self-duplex back cavity antenna is designed.The antenna uses two separate feeders for feeding and has inherent isolation between the two input ports.At the same time,two transverse slots with different lengths perturb the half-mode cavity and can generate two different resonant modes.When their respective ports are excited,they will radiate to the external space while maintaining high isolation between them.Ansoft HFSS software is used to simulate the antenna.The two working frequency bands are 8.35 GHz and 10.6 GHz,respectively.The 10-dB impedance bandwidth is 1.4% and 1.9%,respectively,and the isolation between two independent ports is better than 25 d B.It is miniaturized because the antenna uses a half-mode substrate integrated waveguide,so the size of the antenna is also greatly reduced,while also has the advantages of low loss,easy integration,etc.In the fourth chapter,a high gain substrate integrated dielectric resonator antenna array is designed,it adopts longitudinal coupling slot as the feeding structure.The longitudinal slot feeding is more suitable to realize the compact structure of antenna array.The antenna array is bonded by two single-layer PCB board.The lower layer is dielectric substrate with low dielectric constant,and the dielectric constant of the upper substrate layer is medium.The simulation results show that the antenna gain of the antenna array is about 15 dBi.Because of its compact structure,the geometrical size of array antenna is reduced greatly,which makes it easier to integrate with planar circuits.
