With the rapid development of the Internet and the deepening of the integration of the three networks,the network structure and network scale have undergone tremendous changes.With the change of network data transmission methods,network traffic has shown new features.The network traffic feature is one of the important indicators of network behavior and is of great significance for network simulation design and network planning.The traffic generator can generate specific types and specific rate packets according to different service feature requirements to simulate the data generated by the real network.Combining with laboratory research projects,this paper designs and implements a packet traffic generator,focusing on how to build a traffic model to make the generated network traffic characteristics closer to the real network characteristics,and apply the packet traffic generator to switching simulation and time-triggered Ethernet,generate specific demand network traffic to assist in simulation design.This paper firstly introduces the research significance of packet traffic generator and research status at home and abroad.Secondly,on the basis of analyzing the project requirements,the overall design plan,development tools and software architecture design of the packet traffic generator are expounded.Thirdly,comparing the traditional traffic model and the self-similar traffic model,the self-similarity of the traffic is elaborated from a mathematical point of view,and the new development of the modern traffic model is studied.Fourthly,use Python to build a traffic generator,establish Poisson model or ON/OFF model or fixed-interval model according to different business requirements to generate network traffic as a test incentive for the switching unit simulation,and at the same time generate test traffic for time-triggered Ethernet according to the time schedule forwarding table.Finally,based on the traffic generator,the switching unit and time-triggered Ethernet are tested functionally,and the test environment is set up.The traffic is generated as a simulation incentive,and the performance parameters such as throughput,delay,delay jitter,and packet loss rate are statistically analyzed to improve design efficiency of the tested platform.
