With the rapid development of mobile communication technology, the increasing number of mobile terminals and the emergence of new demands for mobile services, traditional mobile communication systems are difficult to meet the growing needs of application in the future. As the next generation mobile communication system,5G(fifth generation)mobile communication network can provide large bandwidth, low delay, mass access and high mobility. It has become the main research direction of academia and industry at home and abroad. At the same time, the transmission control protocol is one of the key issues in the classical research of the Internet since its birth, and it is also an important direction for improving the performance of the Internet.Especially with the continuous emergence of multimedia services, streaming media technology has become one of the key issues of 5G network research. Therefore, aiming at the feature of asymmetric links in 5G networks, this paper studies the multimedia transmission control protocol and its improvement based on Realtime Transport Protocol/Realtime Transport Control Protocol(RTP/RTCP).The main work of this paper is as follows:Firstly, this paper compares and analyses the research progress of streaming media transmission control protocol and the improvement of RTP/RTCP congestion control strategy. Then,it analyses the characteristics of asymmetric links and its influence on transmission performance, and emphatically analyses the improvement of transmission control protocol(TCP)and RTP/RTCP protocol in asymmetric links. It provides a basis for the subsequent improvement of streaming media transmission performance in asymmetric links.Secondly, taking Mobile Edge Computing(MEC)as an application scenario, this paper proposes a delay-based RTP/RTCP protocol. On the one hand,it overcomes the inappropriateness of traditional RTP/RTCP protocol based on packet loss rate to judge network congestion for wireless environment,on the other hand, the sender uses delivery rate to avoid congestion, which overcomes the sender multiplicative decrease transmission rate excessively reduces the performance of streaming media transmission.Meanwhile, aiming at the problem that the upstream link congestion affects the downlink throughput in asymmetric links, the measurement of round trip time is improved, and an improved delay-based RTP/RTCP protocol is proposed. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can not only improve the transmission performance in asymmetric links in wireless environment, but also improve the utilization of bandwidth and network throughput in the congestion control side.In fact,to some extent, the algorithm also satisfies the stability requirement of streaming media transmission and is helpful to smooth transmission of streaming media.
