With the continuous development of the Internet and communication technologies,people are demanding for more and more bandwidth.Wavelength Division Multiplexing Passive Optical Network(WDM-PON)technology can greatly expand the capacity of optical fiber communication systems,which becomes the inevitable choice for the next generation of access networks.Based on DWDM technology,the G.metro recommendation uses the port-agnostic tunable laser where the tail-end transmitters have the capability to automatically adapt their DWDM channel frequency to the optical demultiplexer/optical multiplexer(OD/OM)or optical add-drop multiplexer(OADM)port,which can greatly reduce the operation and maintenance burden.Its low cost feature is very important in the context of multi-service integration and the need of large-scale deployment of 5G network in the future?In this context,we developed a port-agnostic tunable SFP optical transceiver module based on V cavity semiconductor laser.Through the sending and receiving of low frequency modulation information,we realized the control of the HEE module to the TEE module,so as to realize the automatic configuration of the TEE wavelength.In this paper,the working principle of port independent tunable SFP optical module is studied,and also the standard of G.metro and the working process of the system.Two typical optical modules are selected for low frequency data transceiver,channel switching and pilot-tone emission test.Experimental verification of low port envelope modulation ability of port independent tunable SFP optical transceiver module is carried out.The influence of low frequency modulation depth on the transmitting performance and low frequency data reception of optical module is analyzed to determine the lowest modulation depth for G.metro system receiving power range is 4%.This paper has also tested the 8.5Gbps performance of port-agnostic tunable SFP optical transceiver module,studied the low frequency interference effect on high frequency transmitting eye mask and receiving bit error rate,and made hardware improvement to reduce the effect of the low-frequency interference on the high frequency BER.Finally,the proposed modulation depth range is given to meet the requirements of the system 1dB power penalty,which is involved in the formulation of G.metro international standards.In order to expand the application of the module,functional demonstrations are also made by building G.metro function demonstration system and extensible distributed optical wavelength routing switching system.Hope this research can provide a low-cost,high-performance solution for G.metro system.
