Since the advent of semiconductor lasers, with the advantages of small size, theconversion efficiency, long service life, wide range of wavelengths, direct pumped bylow-power and low-current, working voltage and current compatible with integrated circuits, they has been widely used in optical fiber communication, atomic frequency standards, laserranging, high-resolution laser spectroscopy, nuclear physics, etc. And the measurement offrequency stability and frequency stabilized is of great significance to improve lasersperformance, in the process of lasers research and development, as well as production.Due to the laser frequency is too high, it is hard to achieve high precision in measuringthe laser frequency by using the wavemeter directly. And the beat frequency method generallyrequires a highly stable laser source as reference, so the method received a certain restrict. The main work of this paper reads as follows:1. A method of measuring tunable lasers frequency stability is proposedby using the F-P cavity. The method avoids the need for a high stabilityreference laser source. The experiment result shows, the frequency shift is10.5MHz at the averaging time of800ms. And the method has large measurement range.2. The principle of frequency stabilized by use of the first harmonics of the F-P cavity isdeduced. With the proposed frequency stabilizing method, the stability of laserreaches1.50109at793nm wavelength, and the frequency shift is below570KHz atthe averaging time of800ms, the lock time is longer than12hours. The frequencystability was greatly improved compared with the frequency fluctuation of about10.5MHz under free-running condition in the same time scale.
