In the 1920 s,the Morning Post sent a group of foreign correspondents to work overseas.The large number of correspondents went to a wide range of countries all over the world,which means that the career of oversea correspondents began to stand on the historical stage and enjoy considerable development.In regard to the management of foreign correspondents,the Morning Post made an attempt to establish the titling,salary,term and report submission system.These systems were partly helpful to the management of foreign correspondents.Although the systems did not work well due to the environmental limits,it is worth acknowledging that the Morning Post attempted to institutionalize oversea correspondents.In terms of personnel dispatch,most foreign correspondents were mainly overseas students who worked as part-time special correspondents for the Morning Post.During working,they are highly mobile,and their tenure varied.Generally speaking,these foreign correspondents were well-educated and had rich experiences in journalism.In the aspect of communications,this dispatch means a breakthrough in reporting,news gathering technique and writing technique.Their reports focused on politics,society,diplomacy,economy,education and other important fields.Politics was the most popular topic.Foreign correspondents tried to use all means available,including carrying out interviews through various channels,recording personal experience,making on-the-spot investigation and analyzing data,to collect high-quality news stories.Reporters paid attention to both text and picture in their reporting.During reporting,they interspersed narration with comments,and reason with emotion,which enlightened the readers to make rational thinking.While photos,diagrams,and tables were widely used to help readers understand complex social,economic and geographical problems more directly and clearly.Finally,this dispatch had significant influence on nationalism wakening,journalism professionalizing,and personal career developing.To be specific,firstly,foreign correspondents promoted the prosperity and development of nationalism through constructing of the issue of nationalism.Secondly,foreign correspondents expanded the function of news communication,promoted the communication and cooperation between the Chinese and foreign press,and started discussion on the role of journalists in the news production,which accelerated the professionalization of journalism in China.Thirdly,foreign correspondents' experiences are of great importance to their career development as journalists after returning to China.
