Based on the characteristics of speediness,efficiency,customization,3D printing technology has penetrated into its rapidly-developed background.With high attention from all over the world paid to this newly booming and rapidly prototyping technology,3D printing now has made big breakthroughs in a series of problems in its material,practicability and model design and gradually stepped into the daily life of ordinary users.Different from other former documents and literatures exploring the study in the material and technology of 3D printing,in this paper,the author,standing on an entirely new perspective,applies the knowledge in the subject of interaction design and seeks usability of 3D printing control system as entry point to deeply analyze the key factors hindering the 3D printing technology from popularization in a mass,aiming at improving the user experience and usability of 3D printing control system.This paper firstly analyzes the industry development of 3D printing and takes examples of latest scientific achievements of 3D printing technology.It demonstrates that the problems influencing the popularization of 3D printing,such as the lack of material,low usability and high threshold of model design,have already been basically solved and 3D printing technology has stridden towards the popularization.For the second,combining the former theoretical study of practicability,usability and user experiences in interaction design field,it concludes three key factors: cognitive load,memory load and physical load,influencing the usability of desktop 3D control system.Meanwhile,through actual case analysis and questionnaire survey,it proves the necessity of usability principles in the 3D printing control systems.Next,the author,according to practical experiences and interaction process of using desktop 3D printer,stands in the perspective of ordinary users to analyze the usability problem existing in each interaction link of desktop 3D control system.Finally,based on the three key factors influencing the usability of desktop 3D printing control system which is mentioned before in the paper,it,by combining the theoretical knowledge in interaction design,establishes the usability principles which can be appropriately applied into 3D printing control system.This paper has a new review of this newly-developing technology 3D printing in the perspective of interaction design and digs out the desktop 3D printing control systems design methods based on usability principles,so as to offer the theoretical and practical reference for the designer of the control system and enhance the popularization of 3D printing technology.
