Recently,All-optical network based on ROADM(Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexernodes)has gone through rapid development.A colorless,directionless and Contentionless ROADM,which is referred to as CDC ROADM,is desired to achieve a more flexible network structure.However,traditional CDC ROADM architecture based on multicast switch(MCS)suffers from several disadvantages(high-cost,bulky etc.),which has been limiting the application of CDC ROADM seriously.In this paper,an M × N port Wavelength Selective Switching(WSS),realizing wavelength selection and optical path regulation by two large-scale two-dimensional MEMS micromirror arrays,is proposed to be used for CDC ROADM add/drop module.Multi-chip DH9685 A and hundreds of high-voltage output channels are integrated in one limited-size circuit board,due to the large amount of micromirrors,electrostatic torque arm drive and other characteristics of MEMS micromirror array in WSS system.Therefore,the completed multi-channel,extensible WSS hardware circuit system is low-power,precise,and small sized,which is capable of human-computer communication and system expansion due to its intentionally programmed communication interface.Based on the above WSS hardware control circuit,a control protocol of large scale MEMS micromirror array is proposed,as well as an expandable software architecture and modularized software.This software with tested functionality,reliability and completeness is able to work as the hub of WSS system by controlling WSS hardware control circuit to drive MEMS micromirror array,which enables the users to control the system intelligently.Verify the function of the control system,and tested key performance of the 3 × 36-port WSS based on MEMS technology after building the system.Finally,the parameters of WSS designed in this paper are as follows: the WSS channel spacing is 50GHz;the bandwidth is more than 20GHz;the bandwidth is more than 35GHz;the channel insertion loss is controlled to be as good as 6.35 dB with 30 dB isolation.The above characteristics show that the proposed WSS system has the advantages of high integration,excellent performance,low loss and strong anti-interference ability.As the key components in the CDC ROADM add/drop module,this WSS design can effectively reduce the cost and size of CDC ROADM.
