With the development of optical communication technology, new communication businesses are appearing constantly, this promote the fundamental changes in optical networks. WDM optical networks are moving in all optical network with optical switch, optical router and intelligent optical wavelength assignment functions. Reconfigurable add drop multiplexer as the key node of all optical network device gradually become a hot research field of optical communications. Photonic crystal is a kind of new materials. It has a strong ability to control the light, and small size, ease of integration. It is widely used to design opticalfilters, opticalmodulator, optical switch and other optical communication devices. Photonic crystal provides a new way to design a compact structure and high integration reconfigurable add drop multiplexer. Research based on photonic crystals reconfigurable optical add drop multiplexer has great significance to the development of all optical network.This paper presents a multiplexer based on photonic crystal ring cavity. The optical add drop multiplexerwith square lattice photonic crystal structure. It is composed of a line defect and a ring cavity. It uses ring cavity frequency selective functions to download and upload specific frequency wavelength and through the ring cavity and line defect couple to reuse implementation optical add drop multiplexing. Through the Rsoft software what based on the FDTD on its performance analysis, the results show that the device download rate is high, low insertion loss and high channel isolation. On this basis, this paper presents a kind of electronically controlled liquid crystal photonic crystal single ring cavity based on reconfigurable optical add drop multiplexer. The optical add/drop multiplexer with square lattice photonic crystal structure. In internal medium nine square column filled with phenylacetylene LCD, through electronic LCD to implement six wavelengths on the download. Through the Rsoft software on its performance analysis, the results show that the device download rate is high, low insertion loss and high channel isolation. In order to improve the flexibility of the wavelength reconfigures, this paper designs a kind of electronically controlled liquid crystal photonic crystal double ring cavities based on reconfigurable optical add drop multiplexer. The simulation results show that this reconfigurable optical add drop multiplexer can realize wavelength reconfiguration between 1534.9nm- 1549.5nm, and it has low insertion loss and channel isolation rate is high. This reconfigurable optical add drop multiplexer has practical value in WDM all optical network.
